A tv commercial for a popular “silver” vitamin product piqued my curiosity recently. We know the commercial is absolutely true because the spokesperson is Martin Sheen. Anyway, this commercial contends that even at a distance of 10 miles (146 football fields), your eyes can see the flickering from a single candle flame. Wow, amazing.

If you are like me at all, the candle is the light of Jesus and the metaphor of seeing it through the darkness is obvious. In fact even the distance we can see through our darkness to see His light screams at us. No matter how deep into the darkness we might be in, the Light of God flickers for us to see.

AND it should be included that if we, like it is prescribed become the light of Jesus, our ministries then become the focal point and others from 146 football fields away can see our flickering. I searched Bible Gateway for the word light and found 263 verses from Genesis to Revelation. I scanned through them and found many favorites but will leave the faithful with this One. From Revelation, 22:5, “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
