This is my cousin Joshua. He was in a
serious car
accident the end of last year,
flying
through the front windshield from the
backseat of the car in which he was a
passenger. Joshua suffered severe head
injuries, and clung desperately to life.
He pulled through several rough spots,
but has remained in a coma since the
accident, though he does open his eyes
and has even made a few sounds recently.
He is holding the teddy bear that his
grandmother gave him many years
ago--both she and teddy keep watch over
Josh in the night.

He has the support of his
family and friends: pictured here with
him are his friend Troy, cousin
Margaret, brother Jason, and friends
Mandy and Tom.

Pictured here it is almost possible to
believe that he is just sleeping and
will jump up and run out to play
basketball, isn't it?

Basketball was one of Josh's favorite
past-times, here is a picture I found
from October 97 of Josh playing ball in
the yard with his cousins Robbie, David,
Kathy, and brother
Jason.
I have set up an
account for you to
EMAIL the family, and have also
set up a guest book if you would care to
leave some words of encouragement for my
Uncle David and the rest of the family,
and Lord willing one day perhaps even
Joshy will get to see
it!!
Josh is now in a
wonderful rehab facility, River
Ridge Rehab Center in Kennebunk
Maine. They are wonderful there, and
encourage family involvement in the
therapy and support. There is also an
address on this site if you would care
to send cards, c/o Joshua Skinner.
The therapy will continue
for now as he regains full use of his
body and mind--keep him in your prayers
to have strength through this, it is
sure to be a hard road for him, he keeps
imploring his dad to "take me home", but
the drs. are afraid if he goes home even
for a visit that he might not want to
come back, and their work is not over
yet. But things have improved so much
more than we ever dreamed possible--God
must have plans for Joshy yet! Thanks
again--now more than ever, please sign
his guestbook, I know that one day he
will see these pages and be touched by
all the kind things people say there--as
we, his family, are now. I will update
more regularly, and start harassing my
uncle for more recent pictures--I think
the site definitely needs some more
pictures!!!
cousin Susan
And now, as of the first of September, things couldn't be better--Josh is HOME!! Week before last, he moved back home with his Mom--he will be going back to public school for a couple of hours a day, then bussed back to rehab for several more hours of therapy--poor kid, he's had such a long tough road this year--but look how far he has come!! And they said he wouldn't come out of that coma--those doctors don't know Josh very well, do they?? LOL!! Again, thanks for the prayers, and also again, I am still pestering Uncle David for pictures--maybe one of these days!!
