Ethiopian Wolf

The Ethiopian wolf is often called Canis simensis. This wolf is endangered. Some people though the Ethiopian Wolf was a jackal. DNA techniques showed the Ethiopian wolf is a true wolf.

The Ethipoian wolf is located in Africa. The Ethiopian wolf is also known as:

  1. the Abyssinian wolf
  2. the Abyssinian jackal
  3. the red jackal
  4. the Simien jackal
  5. the Ethiopian jackal
  6. the Simien fox

Ethiopian wolf is protected by the law of Ethiopia. The Canid Specialist Group of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) has claimed the Canis siensis as a new species of wolves. Unlike other wolves, this wolf preys on rodents. There are about 500 of the Canis simensis.
