Maned Wolf

The Maned wolf is also known as Chrysocyon brachyurus. The Maned wolf is not a true wolf. The Maned wolf is a cross between a jackal and a long-legged wolf.

The Maned wolf has a reddish color, a pale belly, and large foc-like ears. The Maned wolf is found in South America mainly in:

  1. Brazil
  2. northern Aregentina
  3. Paraguay
  4. Urugauay
  5. Bolivia

The Maned wolf is protected by the law of Argentina and Bolivia. There are about 85 maned wolves in many zoos around the world in a project.

The project is called "Species Survival Plan." The project is to re-emphasize the Maned wolf to there natural habitat to conserve them to survive.
