Bardock Special:English Version

When I bought the DVD of the Bardock special, I thought, "Since I heard the English version of this sucks, I'll probably just use it for the Japanese version." When I finally did get it(I ordered it online) I watched the English version first. When it was over, I thought to myself, "That didn't suck, that was actually pretty cool." The fact was, FUNi didn't destroy the Bardock special, it merely changed it. I know for some people, that's inexcusable, but these are aslo the people who go on a shooting rampage when their favorite show is canceled. People, I think that if FUNi could exactly reproduce DBZ, they would. But I don't think most of the younger audience would understand, "I condemn you to witness your fate and agonize over the form it takes." Rather than, "See the horror of your end, just like we had to." Both lines, are pretty damn cool. The voices are pretty good, Sonny Strait is awesome as Bardock. But don't get me wrong, I still love Masanko (The Japanese VA for Son Goku, Gohan, and Goten. She also did Bardock for the special) but the English actors do an awesome job also. Music is a big thing people complain about in American DBZ, claiming that it dosen't make sense. I think that is Bull#$%!. The music is fine in the series, just as it is in the Bardock special. Fans of rock & roll will definately love the soundtrack to it. Fans of rab will want to go more with the Trunks Special, which is dubbed almost perfectely.
I do, however, think that FUNi did mess up one key part in the Bardock Special. The part when he's about to blast Freeza. In the English Version, instead of talking about how he's going to change everyone's fate, he goes on about how all the Saiyans quit and how he wishes that they never decided to work for him. I felt that FUNi ruined the emotion of that scene.
But other than that, the Bardock special isn't bad, just different. How is it different you say? Well...rent the VHS or DVD and see for yourself.
