Chapter Three

Chris rang the door bell and Kira quickly opened it. She looked so sick with grief. He only saw traces of what he had known so long ago. She walked into his waiting arms as tears flooded down from her sad eyes.

"Kira, it okay. Let it all out," he said as he stoked her back. She clamed down after a few minutes trying to gain composure.

"Chris thank God you are here," she said as he wiped her tears away. "What am I going to do with out Ethan. And Tiffany. If I see her cry herself to sleep every night one more time I am going to want to kill myself."

"Who is Tiffany?"

"Tiffany? Well uh....uh.....um....well she is my daughter...but um...she is yours too."

He was a father? Was this some kind of a joke? Was Ethan behind the door waiting for him so that he could pop out. But no it was the truth he saw as he looked into Kira's eyes.

"This isn't a joke?" he asked incredulously. But she looked at him seriously. He was a father? When could of this happened? He remembered a night....

*Flashback*

Chris opened the door but returned to his desk so that he could save his psychology paper. When he walked back to the door he found it closed. He could have sworn that it had been left open. He thought nothing of it and headed to a Keg in one of his friend's room. He need to unwind and that was what alcohol was for. He had a few drinks feeling slightly buzzed and felt the need to return to his own room to through up. "Sorry man I gotta go!" he yelled as he left. He knew he was buzzed and he staggered back to his dorm room. He saw a faint glow from under the door though. He entered and found Kira waiting for him.

"I've waited to tell you that I love you, but actions always speak better than words right?" she said as she pulled him into a kiss. If this was a dream he never wanted to wake up.

He woke up to the sound of a ringing bell. He already had one going on in his head. He wasn't having a hangover but he did have a splitting headache. He looked over and found Kira lying next to him. She was bare in his arms. So what had happened wasn't a dream?

"Chris? Oh my god, I can't believe we did that. I...its all my fault," she said embarrassed. But Chris looked in to her eyes and she looked back into the dark brown eyes full of understanding. But in a split second she left.

*End of flashback*

"A daughter?" he asked dumbfoundedly. He couldn't get over the initial shock. He was father. Kira looked into his confused face. He was 27 going on 28 and he would love being a father. It had been a shock to find out that she would be a mother at only 21. But just to be near Chris she felt her heart beginning to mend.

"Chris aren't you happy to know that you are a father?"

"Yeah, I mean. I am just a little shocked but I'm a father...How old is she?"

"She's 6."

"I missed my daughter's life..."

"Chris would you like to meet her?"

Kira called for her daughter. Chris watched as a small child walked down the stairs. Kira watched and found that the two were replicas of one another. Chris looked at his daughter's tear stricken face. "Are you okay?"he asked. She shook her head no. She tugged at his shirt meaning for him to bend down.

She looked into his eyes for a long time and finally latched onto his arms. "But it'll be better because you are here right now."

Chris felt an overwhelming wave of protectiveness and fatherhood go through him. Kira stood shocked. There was only one other man Tiffany hugged and that was Ethan. And Tiffany only hugged her mother on a special occasion or when things seemed so desperate. Kira smiled through her tears. This meant that Tiffany just new. That had to be it.
