Chapter Eighteen
“Brian, I’m so confused. I’m 90% positive that I don’t love Nick anymore, but I never thought about Kevin. Yesterday when he hugged me…the look in his eyes…I don’t know.”
“Wait, wait, wait. You have feelings for Kev?”
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s because he’s so different from Nick. Maybe it’s just because he was there.”
“Maybe someone’s falling for someone.” He said it like a little boy with a mischievous smile.
“Maybe.”

“Nick, we have to talk.”
“Yes, Nikki. We definitely do.” I had finally convinced myself to break up with Nick.
“Nikki, I think it would be best if we stopped dating.” My jaw dropped. I never expected him to be the one breaking up with me. “Honey, I’m sorry, but we just can’t pretend like we feel the same as we used to.”
“Nick, I – “
“No, let me finish.”
“I was going to say the same thing.”
“You were?”
“Yes. I agree completely.”
“So we can still be friends?” His face looked hopeful.
“Always.” He smiled

“I did it.” As soon as Nick left my hotel room, I called Brian to tell him what happened.
“Nikki, as much as I love you, Hon, it’s 2 am. You can tell me this tomorrow. I’ll see you then.” I was shocked to hear the dial tone.
‘Well. He thinks he’s going to sleep before I tell him about this? He’s mistaken,’ I said aloud to no one. I’m going to his hotel room, and waking up his lazy ass.
I reached his room and began knocking. He, of course, ignored me. Kevin came out of the room next to Brian’s.
“Nikki! It’s 2 am. Do you think you could stop with the knocking?” I hadn’t thought about anyone around hearing it.
“I’m sorry, Kev. I just wanted to talk to Brian, and he’s sleeping.”
“Well, most people are at this time.” I realized how stupid I was being. “Since I’m awake now, would you like to talk to me instead?”
“Sure.”
“Don’t sound too enthusiastic now.” I laughed at his sarcasm, and followed him into his hotel room.
I entered the room and sat on his bed. I told him all about what had happened, and even went back to the party with Nick and the girl. Kevin wasn’t around to see what happened, and had only heard about it from some of the band members and crew. I purposely left out the part about me getting feelings for him though.
“Wow. So you’re single now. It’s always been Nick and Nikki.”
“Yep. I’m going to have to form my own identity now.”
My conversation with Kevin lasted a lot longer than I ever expected. I actually became quite comfortable with telling him things. I figured this was my chance to ask him. It was now or never.
“Um, so, Kev. Do you want to or maybe sometime…”
“Nik, spit it out. What are you trying to say?”
“Do you maybe want to go out sometime?
