Chapter Eleven
"Hey, Nikki. You coming?"
"Yeah, just a sec AJ."
"Ok, girl. Don't take too long." He patted me on the shoulder and left. We were at an after concert party. It was the last show of the tour, so there was a huge party for the group, band, crew, friends, family, and some lucky people who managed to get in.
I wasn't planning on coming, but AJ had talked me into it. Now it was time to leave, but I hadn't seen Nick the whole time. He didn't know I had come. I was going to surprise him, but now I had been here a few hours and not seen him once. I was still looking for him when AJ came back.
"Hon, if you want me to give you a ride home, you have to come now. I'm beat. I need sleep."
"Ok, but I can't find Nick. He said he was coming, didn't he?"
"Yep, he did. I'll help you look, but if we don't find him soon, we're leaving anyway. Deal?"
"Deal." The party was being held in the ballroom of a hotel in Florida. AJ and I split up to look for Nick. About 20 minutes later, AJ and I still hadn't found him.
"I'm sorry, Hon, but we have to go. You can call his house when we get home."
"Ok." I was depressed, but I knew AJ was right. I'd go home and call him. 'I'm sure he's home. If not, I'll call Bri. I'm sure he'll know where he is.' Brian and I had gotten very close. He was now my best friend. Nick, Brian, and I were inseparable. The other guys called us the 3 stooges. We had tried to live together. I had convinced Denise to let me move in with Brian and Nick had convinced his mom to let him move in with Brian. We thought we had gotten away with our plan, but Denise had been having a phone conversation with Jane and they realized that we had planned it so Nick and I could live together. That was the end of that plan.
AJ and I were just about to leave the party. "Oh my God." I just couldn't believe what I had seen. I was impossible. I thought that maybe I was imagining it until AJ turned around and gasped. I knew it was real.
