"CLINT!" Dave screamed the next morning at around 10:30 am. "Clint wake up! I know you had a part in this!" Dave yelled as he shook his brother violently. Clint opened his eyes and rolled over to face the flaming Dave.
"Good morning cream boy. Sleep well?" he asked, his question dripping with sarcasm.
"What the hell did you do that for?" Dave asked as he looked for a wash cloth.
"It was a dare," Clint stated in a 'duh' tone. He looked around the room and noticed that Scott and Sarah were missing from the group.
"Where's Scott and Sarah?" Clint asked as he rubbed his eyes.
"They left an hour ago. They went to Sarah's house. Why?" Dave asked as he scrubbed the last bit of whip cream off his face in the bathroom.
"Just wondering," Clint answered as he stood up.
"Where's Bob? Is he awake yet?" Dave asked as he dried his face with a towel and left the bathroom.
"He's still asleep on the couch," Clint answered.
"Well if I can't sleep in then he sure as hell can't," Dave stated angrily. He walked over to his brothers drum set in the other part of their basement. He walked out with two symbols and squated down near his sleeping brother. He spread his arms and brought them together as hard as he could. Bob shot up knocking the popcorn everywhere and looked at Dave with panic and anger in his facial expression.
"Good morning sleepy head!" Dave said in his best impression of a mother's voice.
"Dave I'm going to kill you! Those are really good symbols!!!" he screamed at his brother.
"And then we went to bed. It was so weird, and now I feel like I hurt his feelings," Sarah cried as she sat on her bed. Scott shoved the last t-shirt into her drawer and sat by her on the bed. He put his arm over her shoulder.
"Sar, Clint has liked you for a long time. He has sent you so many signals and some of them are so obvious that I'm sure you were ignoring him. I've seen you flirt with him too, Sar," Scott told her.
"It's true. I like him, I really like him, but I can't allow myself to do this to him or me. Our friendship will be ruined, and I can't loose that," Sarah informed him as a fresh set of tears rolled down her cheeks. Scott held her shoulders and pulled her in front of him. He took his thumb and wiped away her tears.
"Sarah listen to me. I know Clint and I know you and your both wonderful, sweet people. You both look out for other people's feelings and he will not hurt you like Andy did. I think you should go out with him, but if you don't want to then don't. I'm not pushing you into this and neither is he. Okay babe?" Scott asked as he stared into her eyes.
"Thank you Scott. Thank you," Sarah sobbed as she hugged him tightly. Scott returned the embrace and the two sat for a minute before being inturupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in," Sarah said gently. She watched the door slowly open and Clint appeared in the doorway. He stood there and said nothing.
"Umm, I should go," Scott said taking a hint. He got up, kissed Sarah on the forehead and ran out the door. Clint closed the door and walked over to the bed.
"I came to hear your answer," he informed her. "What is it?" he cringed, fearing the worst. Sarah was silent for a moment, but then turned to Clint and took his hand in hers.
"My answer is yes," she answered smiling.
"YES!" Scott whispered from outside the door. Just then Bob and Dave walked up the stairs and saw their 16-year-old brother crouched on the floor in front of Sarah's bedroom door.
"Scott!" Bob accused. Scott looked up at his brothers and placed his finger in front of his mouth.
"How dare you listen in without us! What'd we miss?" Dave whispered as they crouched down with their brother.
"YES!" Clint shouted as he jumped up. He grabbed Sarah's teddy bear from her bed. "She said yes!" he informed the bear. Sarah looked at him like he was crazy.
"Sorry," he said with a crooked smile on his face. He put the bear down and scooped Sarah's face into his hands. He couldn't figure out what to say so he just kissed her.
About ten minutes later Clint and Sarah decided to return to his house to go swimming. Sarah opened the door and sent Scott, Bob, and Dave flying into her room.
"Guys! You were listening?!" Sarah accused.
"Of course not we were....." Bob was inturupted by Sarah screaming, "I'm going to kill all three of you!" They got up and tore out of the house with Sarah hot on their heels.
"I've never seen them run faster," Clint laughed.
