Chapter 19: Moving In and Butterfly Kisses

Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Roberts made arrangments for Dana to fly in that Friday morning at 7 am. Scott said he would drive Sarah to the airport since Sarahs parents had work.

Beep, Beep, Beep, went Scotts alarm clock. He rolled over and hit the snooze button. Then he reluctantly drug himself out of bed and pulled his clothes on. Time to get Sarah up, hmmm this should be fun, Scott thought. He walked into Clint and Daves room and what he saw shocked him. Sarah was actually up and ready. She was wearing a white long sleave shirt with jean overalls. Scott smiled, she looked so cute.

Ready to go? she asked as she brushed her hair and pulled it into a pony tail. Scott nodded.

Now arriving, flight 182 from Louisiana to Syracuse.

Sarah opened her eyes and lifted her head from Scotts shoulder. She looked down at her sliver watch. Good, theyre right ontime, she thought to herself. Sarah got up and walked to the window and watched the American Airlines airplane pull into the gate. She could hardly wait to see Dana. She hadnt seen her in 5 years!

We are now arriving at Syracuse Ariport, at Gate 3. Thank you for chooseing American Airlines, we hope to see you again real soon.

Dana put her discman back into her green back pack as the flight attendent announced the arrival of their plane. She could hardly wait to see Sarah. Sarah was her best friend in the whole world and they had known eachother since kindergarten. She was so glad her mother sent her up there. Dana didnt want anything else then to be with her friend through this hard time.

The plane pulled up completely and Sarah watched as the passengers began to pour out of the ramp. Her heart was pounding with excitement. Then Dana walked out of the ramp with her green backpack on her back.

DANA!! Sarah called to her friend. Dana turned and saw Sarah running to her. Dana began to run to Sarah. The two girls hugged and squealed in happiness.

I missed you so much! Sarah said as she felt tears fill her eyes.

Oh my gosh! Look at you! Youve lost so much weight! Dana gasped. Sarah had never been fat but she was never as thin as she was now.

No, Im fater then ever! But you! Look at you! You have slimed down so much! And your hair, its so long! Sarah observed.

Well, your still as negative as you used to be. I knew that would never change, Dana commented. Sarah playfully slapped her shoulder.

Come on lets get home so you can get unpacked, Sarah instructed her friend as she took her by the hand and lead her to the still sleeping Scott. Danas heart started pounding out of control as they approached Scott. Dana was a HUGE fan and this was a dream come true to her. She watched as Sarah let go of her hand and began to shake the brother of the boy she dreamed about everynight.

Scott.....Scott.....SCOTT! Sarah repeated as she shook her friend. Scott opened his eyes and waited for his eye sight to focus.

Scott this is Dana, Dana....umm well you know who he is, Sarah introduced. Dana flushed red and shook his hand.

Ah, so your the Dana weve heard so much about, Scott pieced together.

I dont know wether to be happy or scared about that, Dana joked.

Dont worry, you cant be as bad as this girl right here, Scott laughed, returning the joke as he grabbed Sarah and gave her nuggy. Dana stared in slight jealousy. Sarah was never a fan of The Moffatts and yet God worked it so that she would become friends with them. But then Dana remembered that she had a chance to become friends with them too, which brought a smile to her face. As Dana stood deep in thought, Sarah had managed to brake herself from Scotts grip.

Why dont we get your luggage? Sarah suggested as she fixed her pony tail that was disrupted by Scotts hands.

The three teens made their way to luggage claim and gathered Danas bags. Sarah and Dana dragged the bags to the sidewalk outside of the airport and waited for Scott to get the car. They talked about what had been happening in their lives. Dana told Sarah that their friend Crystal had moved to California and that Dana had broken up with Andrew. Dana breaking up with Andrew shocked Sarah. They had been together for almost 2 years and they broke it off? Wow, Sarah thought. Then she informed Dana about the major events in her life, well almost all the major events. She decided to skip the fact that she was going out with Clint. She would save that one for later. Thats when Scott pulled up with the car. He loaded everything into the trunk and they headed home. Scott turned into the driveway of Sarahs empty home. He turned off the car and got out. Dana and Sarah helped him carry the bags into Sarahs house.

Is that it? Scott asked exhausted as he dragged in the last of Danas never ending luggage. Dana laughed.

Yes thats all.

Welcome to my humble home, that Im never at, Sarah laughed. Scott threw himself onto the couch and put his arm over his eyes.

Someones tired, Dana said. Scott shook his head.

Yes very tired, he yawned.

Thanks for taking me to the airport and picking up Dana. That was very kind of you, Sarah thanked him.

No problem! I love you too much to let you go alone. And plus I wanted to be the first to meet the ever so famous Dana, Scott smiled.

Well, I feel honored. Exactly what have you told them about me Sar? Dana questioned.

All good things! I promise! Sarah swore. Dana just laughed.

Well ladies as much as I would love to stay and chat, I must be going. Dana it was very nice meeting you and I hope to be seeing you a lot in the future. Sar.....enough said, Scott reported as he shook Danas hand and hugged Sarah.

Bye Scott! the girls called in unison. Scott closed the back door and Dana turned to Sarah.

Your going out with him, arent you?

No! Im not going out with him! Sarah replied.

Oh yes you are! Dana giggled.

No, Scott has become the older brother I never had! Im not going out with him, Sarah reassured her.

Are you going out with any of them?

No, Sarah lied.

Scott left Sarahs house and headed home. He took a shower and ate breakfast. He was bored so he decided to go see what Selena was up to. He walked up the steps to Selenas cream colored house and rang the doorbell. He heard shouting and footsteps from inside the house and wondered if it was safe to actually go in. He laughed a little to himself as he shifted his weight from foot to foot. Just as he was about to leave the door flung open and Ali appeared in the doorway. She was wearing a black bathing suit with white stripes on the sides. The suit complemented her body nicely.

Scotty! Ali yelled as she grabbed him and pointed the water gun to his head.

SELENA! SURRENDER OR YOUR LOVER BOY GETS IT! Ali barked through the house as her eyes searched for her brother, who was somewhere downstairs.

Ali, what are you doing? Scott asked now worried as to why Ali was holding a water gun (full of ice cold water) to his head.

Not on your life Ali! Selena screamed back. Selena, Ali, and Mike were in the middle of a water gun fight and Ali was loseing majorly. And this was a perfect way to get Selena to surrender.

Let me rephrase myself Sel, surrender or SCOTT gets it! Ali screeched. There was a pause, then a loud thump.

Scott? Selena answered puzzled.

Yuppers! Ali laughed an evil laugh, noticing that her plan had worked.

I'll be right down! Selena informed them. Ali let go of Scott allwoing him to stand. He straightened his neck then began to rub it.

Where did you learn that? Scott asked embarrassed that Ali had him in a head lock that he could not free himself from. Ali shrugged. Both teens were interrupted when Selena appeared at the top of the stairs. Scotts mouth dropped open. Selena had her long stawberry golden brown hair down and blown dry, which made it straight and fluffy. She had a tight dark blue tank top on with short Jean shorts. Her eyes brightened when she reached the bottom of the stairs. God she's beautiful, Scott thought.

Do you surrender? Ali repeated.

Yes yes I surrender, Selena replied obviously annoyed with her sister.

Yes! VICTORY! Ali chanted as she threw her victorious hands in the air. Selena rolled her eyes and motioned for Scott to follow her outside. They left the house with Ali still doing her victory dance.

Do you want to go to the lake? Scott asked.

Yeah sure! Selena smiled.

The lake was Round Lake; a lake in back of their neighborhood that was within walking distance. Round Lake was a beautiful lake that protected by the state. There was no swimming or fishing so it wasnt very popular, but to these teens it was heaven. A place where you escape to and think. On this particular day, it was extra breath taking. The air was cool and crisp. The leaves were beginning to change to dark and light shades of red, orange, and yellow. There was a light breeze that picked up the leaves and tossed them in all different directions as Scott and Selena strolled down the path.

Wow, what a view, Selena sighed as they looked out across the lake. Scott nodded in agreement. It was truely beautiful; the lake was like a mirror reflecting the colors of fall back to the world. Selena wondered why her life couldnt be as beautiful and as perfect as that. Why did life have to be so complicated? Tears threatened her as she pondered her mind with questions and she quickly shut her eyes. Im not going to cry, Im not going to cry, she repeatedly told herself. Scott had been noticing her facial expressions and put his arm around her, but didnt say anything. He knew shed talk to him when she was ready. When Selena felt his arm around her, she knew he understood. She turned to him with tears streaming down her face.

Scott can I talk to you about something? she asked trying to be strong.

Yeah. Anything! Whats on your mind?

Its my parents, theyre getting a divorce. Its so upseting and I feel like Im the only kid in the house whos being affected. Mike is really close to my Dad and Ali is close to my Mom. But they dont seem to care that my Dad will be leaving us. I cant imagine life without my Dad, hes my strength, and my life. I am so close to him that I sometimes mistake him for a best friend. He cant leave us, Im so scared. Whats going to happen to my family? she rattled off as she let her tears flow freely. It felt great to get it all out and it felt wonderful to cry. Scott embraced her shaking body, he really did know how she felt. When his Mom left them he was devastated, but he got used to it. And now he had Sheila, who could never take the place of his real Mom, but was a great stepmom.

Selena, honey, Im telling you from experience that this is a trip to hell in a hand bag. But the pain does subside and life does return to normal. Not right away, but eventually. I will be here for you every step of the way, dont ever forget that, Scott comforted her.

Thank you Scott, that means so much to me, Selena said as she tried to calm her chest from the convolutions that had taken over because of her heavy sobbing. Scott held her until she felt stable again. As Scott cradled Selena she began to think about what had just happened. Had she just sobbed infront of the guy of her dreams? Oh God, she panicked. She ripped her body from his arms and looked into his eyes.

Im sorry for crying. I feel so stupid, she laughed at herself.

No! No! Dont feel stupid! You were sad so you talked about it! Theres nothing wrong with that, Scott argued.

I must have looked so stupid, Selena still couldnt believe she cried infront of him.

Well now that you mention it, you did look pretty stupid, he joked.

Oh shut up, you know Im sexy, she retorted as she stuck her tonuge out at him.

Now thats real sexy, Scott sarcastically assured her.

You betcha! she replied as she reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck. He looked into her eyes then brushed his lips across hers. She began to respond and before either of them knew it they were kissing passionately.

Selena? Scott asked breathlessly two minutes later.

Yeah?

Will you go out with me? he asked slightly laughing. There they were kissing out of control and he hadnt even asked her out.

Yes, of course! But you have to do something for me first, she replied slyly as she twirled a lock of his hair with her fingers.

And whats that?

You have to kiss me like theres no tomorrow.

I think I could manage to pull it off, if I try really hard, he laughed. Then his lips met hers and for the second time that day they stood in each others arms with no worries and no cares.
