Chapter 12: Midnight Stroll

“I don’t know if I like the fact that my girlfriend is staying in a room with my brother,” Clint informed Dave as he read through his comic. Dave just laughed and shook his head. He knew his brother didn’t mean a word he said, he was just bragging because he had a girlfriend and the others didn’t.

“Clint you know you don’t mean a word of that,” Dave replied.

“Yes I do! I really do!” Clint said with a serious face.

“Clint shut that stupid mouth of yours before I fix it so that you wont be able to talk again,” Scott warned as he walked into the room in a towel. He walked over to his suit case and grabbed a pair of boxers and a shirt.

“I still don’t trust him,” Clint repeated.

“SHUT UP CLINT!” Scott and Dave screamed in unison.

Bob was sitting on his bed bouncing a purple ball up and down. He was bored out of his mind. Sarah was in the shower, there was nothing good on tv and no movies to order off of pay-per-view.

“Bored, bored, bored. I’m so bored,” he sang to himself. Then suddenly he came up with an idea of what could keep him entertained. He stood up and walked into the bathroom. He approached the toliet and pushed the silver handle. As a result it turned the shower water ice cold.

“OH MY GOSH!!” Sarah shrieked. Bob ran out of the bathroom and hid behind the bed closest to the door.

“See what’d I tell ya?” Clint replied to the scream.

“Shut up Clint!!” Scott yelled as Dave threw a pillow at Clint.

Bob remained behind the bed for about 15 minutes, then figured Sarah had forgotten about the whole thing. He was now sitting on his bed watching ‘I Love Lucy’ and slowly falling asleep. Sarah looked around the bathroom for something she could use to get back at Bob. That’s when she spotted the large bucket sitting beside the shower. She filled it with ice cold water. Slowly she crept out of the bathroom. She looked at the sleeping Bob and an evil grin took over her face. She poured the water all over him soaking him and the bed. Bob shot up, shocked.

“SARAH!!!” Bob shrieked, his voice cracking in the proccess. Sarah hit the ground laughing. Bob pounced on her pinning her arms to the ground.

“Stop Bob! Your getting me wet!” Sarah laughed as she struggled to get her wrists out of Bob’s grip.

“Tell me Sarah are ticklish?” Bob asked sounding serious.

“Oh you beast! You wouldn’t dare!” Sarah stopped laughing.

“I would,” Bob grinned. He grabbed her sides and began to tickle her.

“MERCY! MERCY!!” Sarah screeched. Bob stopped and got off of her. They both stood up.

“Sarah you soaked my bed! Now I’m going to have to sleep on the floor,” Bob pointed out.

“No you wont! Because your sleeping in my bed,” Sarah informed him.

“Sarah your not sleeping on the floor. I refuse to let you,” Bob retorted.

“No silly! We’re going to sleep in the same bed,” Sarah laughed.

“I don’t think Clint is going to like that,” Bob stated.

“What Clint doesn’t know wont hurt him. Besides how long have you known me?” Sarah reminded him.

Around midnight Bob awoke from a bad dream. Breathing heavily he sat up. He looked down at the other side of his bed and Sarah was gone. He looked around the room and found her sitting by the door crying. He pushed the covers off of him and got up. He walked over to Sarah and sat down by her.

“Sarah what’s wrong?” Bob whispered. Sarah took a deep breath.

“Will you take a walk with me?” she asked. Bob nodded and grabbed a shirt. They opened the door and walked out into the humid night air. They walked to a bench by a fountain and sat down.

“Bob have you ever lost anyone near to you?” Sarah questioned. Bob thought about the question for a minute.

“Yes. My Grandmother, but that’s it,” he replied.

“Oh,” was all she said. Bob rested his elbows on his knees and decided to let his heart do the talking.

“Sarah, you are my best friend next to my brothers, and I wish there was something I could do to take the pain away. But I can’t. Your aunt chose to leave because she was in pain, a kind of pain we can’t even imagine. But I gaurantee you that when she did whatever she did, you were not in her mind. She loved you so much, you have no idea how much. She wanted her daughters to be just like you. She thought you were the most amazing teenager on the planet. I know all of this is painful to hear, but it’s all true. I am going to do everything in my power to help you through this. I just want you to know that,” Bob said as he stared at the rushing water. Sarah stared at him. Those were the kindest words that had ever been said to her. A fresh set of tears fell down her face as she looked at the person who truly understood her pain.

“Thank you so much Bob,” Sarah sobbed. He sat up and hugged her. He knew that he was going to hold her in his arms until her crying stopped, even if it meant all night.
