Chapter 22

Taylor and Zac woke up at 7:30 in the morning aware that they must have fallen asleep while singing. They quickly brushed their hair and teeth and saw Isaac sleeping in his bed perfectly happy and content. They stayed in their boxers and T-shirt’s to lazy to change. They knocked on the connecting door and there was no answer. They knocked again thinking she was asleep. Once again their knock went unanswered and reasoning that she was asleep seemed most likely. Zac walked away but Taylor just had this feeling something wasn’t right. He slowly opened the door. Everything of Sarah’s was gone. It’s like no one had even stayed there. He threw open the door completely and walked around, nothing. He noticed a piece of paper and an envelope on the dresser.

Dear Isaac, Taylor, and Zac,

Thank you for the wonderful night!
I had a great time despite everything else.
I’m sorry nothing turned out the way you had hoped.
I’m left early this morning so you don’t have
to worry about where I am.
I love you all and Isaac I’m sorry.
Please give the envelope to N Sync.

With Love,
Sarah

Taylor gripped the letter tighter in his fist, “ZAC! ISAAC!” And with that he ran out of the room grabbing the envelope and slammed the door to the connecting room shut with a bang. Both brothers were sitting on the bed with a surprised look on their faces. “Tay, what’s wrong?” Ike asked and Taylor thrust the letter in his face and still clutched the envelope tight enough he was making creases in it. Ike took the letter and scanned it with Zac reading it behind his shoulder. “We have to stop her!” Zac said jumping up off the bed. Isaac folded the letter, “no, let her go. It’s not like she’s in harms way and she’s going back to Tulsa. What? Stop her from leaving to somewhere she was going to go anyway in about two days?” Taylor hated to admit it but he had a point. “True, but I want to know what is in this other letter.” They looked at it and the envelope was sealed. “Should we break the seal?” Zac asked. Taylor was about to before Isaac stopped him “no Taylor go and give it to them. They are supposed to leave later today, give it to them before we miss them. Maybe we should head off to Europe today instead of waiting like we were going to.” Zac didn’t say anything and just walked into the bathroom and two seconds later the shower turned on. “Whatever Ike.” And Taylor walked out to N Syncs hotel room to give them the letter.

Micky woke up to the sound of someone knocking at the door. She looked over and noticed Cassandra was still sleeping next to JC. She knew she would have to be the one to answer the door. She trudged over to the door and opened it. “Hey Taylor!” Micky said surprised that the middle brother was standing there. “Hey, are any of the guys here?” “Well yeah, but they are all still sleeping, why?” “Well, could you give this to them. Sarah wanted me too before she left.” “She left? When?” “Earlier, we were just as surprised as you were. Anyway just make sure they get it ok?” “Ok.” With that she took the letter and shut the door. She walked back holding the cream colored envelope with the hotel’s symbol where the stamp should be. She set it on the table and going to get ready since they were all leaving that day but stopped. She turned around and stared at the envelope like a child looking in a toy store window. Micky could feel herself stopping. They were going to open it later so she could read it then. Then again if they were going to read it then couldn’t she just open it now? She stood there debating it for the next minute or so. Finally she ripped open the letter and scanned the contents.

Dear Lance, JC, Justin, Chris, Joey, Cassandra, and Micky,

I wanted to say first off that Justin,
I’m not mad at you just disappointed that you
couldn’t have been the mature one.
Thank you Cassandra for helping me, even though
outcome was not the best.
Micky, Isaac is a nice guy please don’t hurt him
like I did.
Joey, we really need to talk, please get a hold of me.
Please feel free to write me or call me.
My address and phone number is listed below.

With love,
Sarah

She knew it was ok because her name was on the letter. The Joey comment intrigued her. What did she mean by that? Placing the letter on the table Cassandra stirred in her sleep and opened one of her eyes. “What are you doing?” This woke up JC. He made some sour looking faces and finally rubbed his eyes and opened them a little bit wider. “What’s going on?” And Micky handed him the letter.

Nick and the rest of the group were boarding the plane to California. It was around 7 or 8 and he was the most tired out of the whole group. He carried two bags and got ready to run with the rest of them to their gate. He was too tired of this but he knew they didn’t have a choice. Already a bunch of teenage girls were following them to the airport and it was a matter of minutes before they called their friends and their friends called theirs and so forth. Guards got ready to get them to their gates. Normally they would have taken the gates in the out of the way part of the airport but the gates were closed temporarily. “Ready?” Kevin asked him, “yeah.” Brian nodded, “ok, here we go then.” And all of them began to run. He kept on running and more and more people kept on following them. That’s when a girl boarding a plane to Minneapolis caught his attention, “SARAH?” She turned around, glared, and ran inside the terminal before Nick could do anything or question the glance.

Taylor, Isaac, and Zac got their things together. They discussed it with their Dad and he thought maybe that they should leave a little bit earlier so they would have enough time to adjust to jet lag. Isaac was in his room getting his things together and making sure nothing was left behind. He sat on the edge of the bed and just buried his head in his hands and cried. He didn’t know what to do and felt lost without Sarah. He couldn’t deny, lose, or hide his feelings for her. He wanted her so bad he could almost taste it. He still couldn’t believe her about Nick or not but didn’t care. He wanted her with all his heart. They had grown up together, had been through everything together, and couldn’t continue to live without her. He knew it was over but didn’t want to accept it. He lifted the chain of a necklace he received from a fan after they were finished eating. He took the original charm off of it, which was a metal Hanson symbol. He looked at what was now on the chain, her engagement ring. He didn’t know what to do but realized that for now he had to get over her and was going too. It was just how he was going to do that when all he kept seeing was her face over again in his mind.

Zac was in his room without Taylor. Taylor left for about 20 minutes to go get something to eat out of some of the lobby vending machines. He paced the room frustrated. Normally he wrote down everything in his journal but remembered last minute his and Taylor’s got switched accidentally while doing laundry and it was now under Taylor’s bed in Tay’s room. He made a mental note not to forget about getting it right away before someone found it that shouldn’t have. Especially since some of the things written in it he didn’t want to get out. He continued to finished getting things together and was done with pretty much all of his stuff when Taylor came in the room balancing 2 cans of Pepsi and 5 different kinds of junk food. “Why did you get so much Taylor?” He dumped it all on the bed, “well you see, I was going to just get a bag of chips and a Twix, but then I thought about it and decided to get M&M’s just in case. After I got that I felt like Skittles, so I bought those and realized Ike likes those Hot Tamales things and I figured I’d get him something. So in conclusion . . .” Zac cut him off, “in conclusion, YOU are a moron!” Taylor scowled, “oh bite me Blondie.” Zac looked at him, “that’s a weak insult, so are you.” Taylor’s expression fell, “oh yeah.” “You are so retarded Taylor.” “I’m just tired,” “Don’t justify Tay, you sound even more stupid.” And with that Zac grabbed a can of pop and the Twix and began to pig out. “So what do you think of everything?” “Starting from where?” “Well, ever since you found Sarah with Nick.” Taylor opened the M&M’s. “I don’t know I feel bad for Ike. Sarah really did a bitchy and spiteful thing. But we have grown up with her and to ditch her now would be pointless you know?” “True, it’s hard, not to take sides and all.” “I know exactly what you mean but maybe it’s better that we won’t see her for a month or so.” “I guess you’re right, but I feel bad that those two used her like that and then she did that to Ike.” “I know but we really should stay out of the whole thing.” “Yeah, but it’s hard not to. But what is up with Micky? She seems nice and all just really . . . I don’t know how to put it into words.” “She’s just really no Sarah.” “Yeah.” “Well, I think we have to accept that they aren’t going to get back together again or at least not for a very long time.” “I accept it, I just don’t like it.” “Oh well, what really gets me wondering is how Ike can act like nothing is happening. He’s like, oh well it happens and shows no emotion over it.” “I though I was the only one who noticed! They have been together since what? Birth, and he doesn’t even care! I thought he’d be a lot more upset over this whole thing.” “I assumed the same thing. This guy gets upset over anything to do with the girls and all of a sudden the one he loved BIG TIME cheats on him and he doesn’t even care.” “It’s messed up, or something.” “Well, let’s drop this and forget about it. We have to finish getting everything together. Where are we going first?” “I thought one of them said Oslo but two others said Paris and London.” “Great this is going to be fun.” The brother implied sarcastically. They threw away their garbage, packed the extra junk food and finished up packing. They were due in the outside their rooms in 10 minutes ready to leave.
