Chapter 21

They decided on going back to their hotel. They started walking and cut across the lawn instead of using the sidewalk. She didn't say much, she just felt like a fool. She threw away something wonderful to be with scum. She now believed the stereotype that was given to the famous. Isaac was her only exception, and now he was with Micky. Not that she didn't like the girl but Ike was hers. Well, he was hers until she blew it. She started crying all over again at how she let Nick and Justin walk all over her and she was feeling bad for herself. Joey looked at her and she turned her head and they stopped again. "Stop crying Sarah, this wasn't you fault." "Yes it was! Don't you see! Maybe if I hadn't been so FULL of myself nothing like this would have happened!" "You weren't full of yourself at all." There was lightening and then a loud crack of thunder. She screamed and grabbed him. He laughed and was going to shake her off of him but noticed how she looked up at him. She didn't know what to say but Joey would have cut her off anyway. He leaned down and kissed her. She was going to pull back but instead didn't. Ike and her were over and it was time she moved on. But she wanted to keep going on but she also thought it was possible he was like that too. But then didn't because she didn't think he was because he took her side instead of Justin's. Thoughts were swirling around in her head so fast she gave herself a headache just thinking about it. But she continued anyway and the rains pouring down on both of them with lightning and thunder all around them. Because it was raining the chance of anyone seeing them, and figuring out who he was, was slim to none.

Taylor and Zac were inside the hotel pacing worried. If anything should happen to her they'd never forgive themselves. Isaac on the other hand was slightly concerned but said "she was a big girl" and could take care of herself. Zac wanted to smack his brother but realized why he was pissed off too and how she hurt him but they'd grown up with her and to start hating her now was impossible. They had gone through too much together.

Isaac and Micky were in the downstairs lobby in the restaurant. They were talking or actually Micky was the one doing the talking and he just listening, if you call it that anyway. He kept fidgeting, squirming, and trying to justify it by saying the seats were uncomfortable but he kept thinking if something happened to Sarah he wouldn't be able to live with himself. On the other hand she was a big girl and could deal with whatever she was hit with. What concerned him was how much her heart could take without starting to fail or reject in her body. "Isaac? Are you listening to me?" He was shaken awake into reality. "What? Huh?" She sighed, "Ike, aren't you listening? I said I hope Sarah comes back here ok." "Oh, oh ok, yeah so do I." He picked at his Chicken Alfredo and Micky continued to talk and Isaac continued to drown in and out of listening to her.

Lance, Justin, Chris, JC, and Cassandra were in their hotel room and waiting for Joey to come back, and they hadn't even taken off their outfits they wore that night. They thought he would right away after getting her and they hoped that nothing happened or he didn't run into some overzealous fans. Lance and JC were pissed off and Justin along with Cassandra but realized it was done and over and he wouldn't do that again. What shocked them ever more was that Justin really did like her and was going to call of the bet that night with Nick just never had the chance. Lance was channel surfing with Justin and talking softly and JC was laying down propping his neck up with pillows so he could watch TV. Chris was sitting on one of the chairs reading a book. Cassandra was lying down next to JC and her head was lying on his upper chest near his neck and her arm wrapped around him not really watching the TV but just staring at it. She was really upset with Justin but didn't say anything out load. More of less no one in the room was truly worried about Joey but Sarah because everyone, like Isaac, was wondering how much she could handle. Soon she drifted off to sleep still in her dress and JC's hand on her bare shoulder.

Joey pulled away from her and she looked away, they didn't know what to say to each other. "Um, let's go back to the hotel." "Yeah." And they walked back together with her arm around her shoulder and her head lying on him. They just kept walking but never felt the cool breezes and ignored the rain. Sarah was confused and didn't know what to do. But she realized in the morning that she didn't want to be there, that she wanted to go back home and go back to school. She never thought she would ever hear herself say that out loud or in her mind. It was for the better that's all that mattered.

Taylor and Zac finally had enough and changed into a pair of boxers and T-shirts. They couldn't stand waiting around and realized she'd be back soon. But both of them knew they wouldn't be able to sleep unless she was back in her hotel room. They wanted to passe the time so they started to sing. They started laughing when they started singing Mmmbop, they had retired that song because they were sick of hearing and singing it.

They reached their floor and both of them realized they had to go back to their rooms. Sarah really didn't know what to say or do, but Joey could somehow sense that. He just lifted her chin and her face to his and kissed her good-bye. It sickened her to realize that his touch was sending electricity through her that she had lost with Isaac. She wanted that feeling to be with Ike, not him. She shook that feeling away because she knew it would never happen. They were over and it was probably for the better.
