" Except the Lord build the house they labor in vain that build it; except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Psalms 127:1

New Horizon Apostolic Church of Christ in God, Inc., was founded and organized March 2000 by Evangelist Shirley L. Johnson, Deacon George R. Johnson, and other family members.

The organizational meetings were held at the home of Sister Valerie J. McMillian, 4100 Kingsland Circle, in Old Town Community. The first service in a physical building was held April 2, 2000 at Holiday Inn Hanes Mall. We worshipped at this location for ten months, until God blessed us with a beautiful building, located at 4670 N. Patterson Avenue February 2001.

The church was given its name by Elder Edward Lowery. Deacon Wallace Preston, of Salisbury, NC, gave the first seed offering. The articles of Corporation and by-laws were compiled and typed by Evangelist Gladys Christian. Sis. Darlene Transou typed the first programs. After being witnessed to by Sister Beverly Dickerson, the first members to attend and join were Sister Helen Ann Shields and sons. Since then, the Lord has added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Under Pastor Johnson's leadership we have made great strides these five years. God has blessed us with another beautiful building. We have purchased church furnishing, a 15-passenger van, and musical equipment. We are looking to go higher and higher and from glory to glory.

Elders Ronald Lowery and Gary Johnson along with Evangelist Catherine Gay have assisted Pastor Johnson in the past. Presently, Elder Gary Johnson and Evangelist Valerie McMillian assist her.

The first choir was the youth choir. Currently, we have the youth choir and an adult choir. We have four auxiliaries: Deacon Board, Missionary Department, Usher Board and Youth Department. We also have the Men's and Women's Fellowship Committee.
