Nick sat and watched Brianna dance with his friends. He watched her laughing and having a good time. He sat and thought about what Tony said and about things he himself had done. “The hell with it.” He reached into his pocket and swallowed the pill with the rest of his drink.
He continued to sit and watch while letting the drug start to work. Mike was around somewhere, he’d keep an eye on everyone and make sure things were fine. No one was gonna mess with him here anyway. Finally feeling the affects Nick made his way out to the dance floor. He was able to come right up behind Bree without her even noticing. He placed his hands on her hips and pulled her back into him while starting to dance with her. “Hey there. Not mad at me are you?” She shook her head no and placed her hands over his bringing them around front to hold her. "I’m willing to trust that you know what you’re doing, okay. But don’t let it get out of control, please.” She nodded her head yes and they continued to dance like that for quite a while.
Tony spotted them and had to ask, “So, everything cool now.”
Nick smiled. “Yeah man, it’s cool. You were right, as usual.” He reached over and patted Tony on the shoulder.
For the rest of the night Nick and Bree were inseparable, which was actually nothing unusual. The only difference was they were both feeling the affects caused by Ecstasy and were a bit more physical with each other on the dance floor. But, they were completely contained within their small group and most people didn’t notice anything much out of the ordinary.
On the way back to Nick’s house Mike looked at Tony and asked, “So are you gonna tell me what’s up with those two?” Driving he was unable to completely avoid seeing them in the rear view mirror. They were holding hands, playing with each others fingers, kissing, whispering, and just basically not even trying to hide that something was going on between them. Which in itself was strange.
Tony looked over his shoulder to see Bree tracing her fingers over Nick’s forehead and down his cheek. Nick looked as if it was the most wonderful sensation he had ever felt. “Oh, them. They’re rolling.” He said it so casually Mike didn’t catch it at first.
Then, “What!” He almost yelled. Then lowered his voice, “Why didn’t someone tell me about this? Do you know what could have happened if they, HE was caught with that in the club?”
“He didn’t bring it, she did.” Mike looked over at him like he was crazy. “I’m serious. Nick was pissed about it at first. But I guess he changed his mind.”
“No one tells me anything. They’re both lucky. He knows better than to do that in a place like that.” The rest of the way back to Nick’s, Tony and Mike discussed what Nick did and didn’t know better about, while Bree and Nick remained trapped in their own little world in the back seat.
