Chapter Six -- The Breaking of My Heart
"It's none of your business..."
<Lori.... who's that guy? Is that Nick Carter? What the hell is he doing in your room?> Miguel sounds really jealous and mad.
"Miguel Stewart! That's enough! What do you think I am? You don't trust me at all!" Lori starts to cry.
<WHAT is Nick Carter doing in your room? I'm asking you!>
"You're asking me? You're not gonna trust me no matter what I say..." Nick sits down next to Lori and tries to comfort her.
<Lori... I'm sorry... I over reacted just now. Listen, how bout this... when you come back, we'll buy a house so we can live together... just you and me, sounds great right?>
"Miguel... how many times I've told you I'm not ready to live with you yet..." Lori says.
<Why? Because you have Nick Carter now?>
"Miguel! Why don't you trust me? Any why you always have to blame Nick for our problems? It's between you and me!" Lori hangs up.
"What's wrong Lori?" Nick asks, looking really worried.
"Miguel dont' trust me... he thinks I'm with you now. He said he wanna buy a house and we'll move in together... he just don't understand I'm not ready yet... Nick, I'm sorry, it's nothing to deal with you and Miguel just..." Lori says.
"Maybe I'm responsible too... I admit that I kinda pay lots of attention to you." Nick says, with his head down.
"Well... gotta get prepare for the concert now, forget what he say... Let's go Nick." Lori's face blushes after she heard what Nick said.
~ 2 days later -- 10:07 am ~
It is a day off for everybody. Brian and Kevin woke up early. After breakfast, they picked up the newspaper, looking really shocked. They notify the others to go the meeting early, except Lori.
"Look at this! I think we gotta re-consider about signing him under our company." Kevin said as he show the others the newspaper headline in the entertainment section: UPRISING POP STAR GOT CAUGHT IN A CLUB WITH ILLEGAL DRUGS... Miguel Stewart was caught last night with possession of illegal drugs in LA, he was spotted the day before staying in model Anne Levis' house.
"You guys... I don't think Lori is ready for this. 2 days ago, he was still like begging Lori to forgive him." Nick says.
All of a sudden, Lori enters the room, Melissa and Kevin try their best to hide the newspaper from Lori.
"Wow... good morning guys. I thought I was early... and you guys are all here already... by the way, anyone of you seen the newspaper this morning... I can't find it..." Lori says.
"No... no Lori." Melissa says.
Lori spotted the newspaper behind Melissa's back. "You kidding Mel, what's that you're hiding behind you. Come on, give it to me... it's the newspaper I know..." Lori then gets the newspaper from Melissa. "Guys... why did you guys squeezed it..." Lori smiles as she gets hold of the newspaper, she finds it funny for what the others are doing, having no idea she's gonna be hurt so badly.
Lori opens up the newspaper and start reading it. Tears are streaming down her face. She runs out from the room out to the street. Nick follows her immediately.
"Lori, hold on, where are you going?" Nick gets hold of her arm.
"Nick... why is he doing this to me? Why?" Lori breaks down crying really hard.
Nick suddenly holds her tightly in his arms. "Lori, he doesn't deserve you. There are still people out there who truly care about you."
"Nick... I want sometime alone... I'm sorry."
"Okay... Lori" He slowly lets go. "But you gotta promise me you're gotta be fine on your own." Nick says.
"Okay..." Lori turns around and walks away.
Nick sighs and goes back.
~ 12:48 am ~
It's almost 1. Rain is pouring outside. Nick couldn't get to sleep, he's walking around in the room. Brian walks out from the bathroom after taking a shower.
"Nick, what's wrong?"
"Lori is not back yet." Nick says, he's really worry about Lori.
"Man.... where she goes..." Brian says.
"Brian, I think I'm gonna go find her."
"Okay... be careful Nick."
Nick runs out from the hotel, looking left and right, trying to figure out which way to go first.
