Chapter Ten - Come What May
FOUR HOURS BEFORE THE MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS
Lori follows the Boys to New York for the award show, she's not asked to attend the show, but the Boys told her to come along.
Today is her birthday. She is sitting there in the hotel room by herself, having no idea where the others are. She's watching TV when NIck comes into the room.
"Lori... come on, get change..." Nick hands Lori a Gucci box.
"What... where are we going?" Lori asks.
"I'll tell you later... Just put on the dress now." Nick said and slightly pushes Lori into the bathroom.
After 15 minutes, Lori walks out in a beautiful long black Gucci dress. She sees a make-up artist and a hair stylist. THey help her to get the make-up and hair done. After they leave, Nick enters the room.
"You look beautiful Lori... let's go now." Nick said, he holds Lori's hand and leads her to a limo where she sees the other Boys and their dates.
MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS VENUE -- 6:17 PM
Taylor cannot find Nick for the whole entire day and decided to come by herself first. She is stopped by news reporters on the red carpet for a short interview.
"Good evening Miss Vonde, or should we say soon-to-be Mrs. Nick Carter..." the news reporter said.
"Hi..." Taylor said and waves to the camera.
"So Miss Vonde, why are you showing up by yourself, where's Nick?"
"Oh he has something to take care of, that's why I came here first, he will join me really soon." Taylor smiles.
"Okay... thanks Miss Vonde and congratulations about the engagement party tomorrow." The news reporter said.
"Thank you." Taylor said, just as she turns around, she hears the reporter saying, "Here comes Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys."
Nick is holding onto Lori's hand while walking towards all the news reporter. There are many reporters next to the red carpet and all of them are taking pictures of Nick and Lori.
The news reporter who has just interviewed Taylor stops Nick and Lori for an interview.
"Good evening Nick and this is Lori, the new singer under KBNHA Records."
"Good evening."
"So Nick, I thought you're suppose to show up with Miss Taylor Vonde but you ended up coming with Lori, what's the matter here?" the reporter asks.
"Well, it's a pretty long story, all I have to say is that I had never personally admit the engagement between Miss Vonde and I, and I had never respond to any news about that in particular. Lori is my girlfriend and I wanna clarify everything right here, in front of everybody." Nick said while Lori looks at him, she can't believe he said that in front of everybody.
"So you're saying that you've never plan to get engaged with Miss Taylor Vonde?" the reporter asks.
"Yes, I don't think I have that plan on my schedule." Nick jokes.
After the interview, they enter the venue. Lori pulls Nick aside and talk to him.
"Nick, you sure that's okay?" Lori looks at him, worried about Nick and the Boys.
"I've asked the Boys about it... they all agree to do that." Nick said. "And also, Happy Birthday Lori. That's my birthday present for you." Nick whispers into Lori's ears.
Lori kisses Nick, "Thanks..."
The next day, Nick, Lori and Taylor are asked to have a private talk with Jive Records' chairman, Kenny Riven.
"Uncle, that's not fair..." Taylor said.
"Nick, you have an explanation for this?" Riven asks.
"Well Mr. Riven, I had never agree to get engaged with Taylor, I would never be irresponsible to the one I love." Nick said as he looks at Lori.
"Okay... here's my final decision then..." Nick and Lori listen closely about the future of the Backstreet Boys.
