Chapter Seven -- What About Us
"Okay... Lori, put in serious consideration... it's all up to you. Just take the path that you think you're gonna live the happiest with." Beckham smiles.
Lori gets home and sees Jennifer and Laney staring at the newspaper.
"Hey guys... what's wrong? Big news?" Lori asks.
"Well... yea... Jive Records chairman that Taylor Vonde, his niece is soon-to-be fiancee of Nick Carter..." Laney said.
Lori looks at them in shock, tears start pouring out of her eyes as she runs back up to her room.
Lori fell asleep on her bed while Jennifer enters her room.
"Lori... your phone..." Jennifer said, trying to wake her up.
"Who's that..." Lori answers, still crying.
"It's Nick..." Jennifer said.
"I don't wanna talk to him anymore..." Lori turns away.
"Maybe he has an explanation... you should know better than me what kind of person Nick is... he doesn't seem to be so irresponsible..." Jennifer said.
Lori thinks for a second and picks up the phone.
<Lori? I'm sorry, I wanna talk to you about the whole engagement thing.> Nick said.
"Okay... I'll go over to your house right now." Lori said.
Half an hour later, Lori arrives at Nick's house.
"Lori... let me explain this... I didn't know about the whole engagement thing... that wasn't my idea. It's an order from the chairman... I'm trying to figure out a way to deny it. The only problem right now is that I don't want the other Boys to get into trouble..." Nick said.
"Nick... it's okay. As you know, your career is more important, and now it's also about the other Boys' career... it's not worth it to risk the whole thing over me."
"Lori... but I need you, I don't wanna end like this..."
"Nick, everything between us started out too fast... we worked together 3 days for a video that is not even going to be released, and we're seeing each other afterwards, maybe we don't truly understand each other yet..."
"Lori... I know it's about my career, but I love you."
"At this moment we are loving each other... I'm really happy that you are willing to explain it to me... but everything is really starting out too fast... so fast that no one is going to believe, you know what I mean..." Lori picks up her bag and decides to leave. "I think it's time for goodbye Nick. Thanks for... everything... I really enjoy the time we had together."
Before she leaves, she said, "Nick... don't feel bad about the whole thing, I know it's a tough decision to make, but think about it, you may fall in love with Taylor later, take some time and try to understand her."
"I don't think I can do that with you in my mind all the time..." Nick takes hold of her hand.
"I'm not gonna be around anymore..."
"What you mean Lori?" Nick asks.
"I'm going to England for three years for a research project... for my own good... Goodbye Nick."
"No, don't go... stay..." Nick said.
"There's no point of staying anymore, is there? Maybe we shouldn't start anything in the fist place..." Lori said, she slowly let go of Nick's hand and leaves.
Nick didn't say anything and watches Lori as she leaves. He doesn't want to let Lori go, but on the other hand, he has to consider about the group's future.
"Oh god... why is this happening?" Nick said as he threw himself on the couch.
On the other hand, Lori drives home with tears in her eyes. She can't believe she just end the relationship himself, but she knows deep in her heart that she doesn't want Nick to ruin the group's future just because of her.
