I bought this non running 1996 Honda 300ex for the engine as a donor for the IRS Yerf Buggy that I building. Seller claimed it had a fresh engine rebuild by a "buddy" and then they couldn't get it to run. I bought it with a suspicion what the issue was and I was correct, the camshaft was installed 180 degrees out of time. I retimed the cam and it fired right up and ran great. Pic below is how it looked after I got it running.

I rode the bike around like this for a while and decided I would keep it and not pull the engine for the buggy. So I bought another non running 1998 300ex engine and front suspension from a seller in Va. I also bought a Cobra exhaust system from the same seller at a very good price. After I bead blasted and coated the system I installed it onto the 96 bike along with a Uni filter and a carb rejet. I took the quad to Cape Fear ATV & MX Park one weekend to ride with some friends and lost 1st gear. So I bought another unknown year 300ex running chassis (no suspension) that the seller also said had just been rebuilt. I swapped the engine and front fenders into my quad.

This is the bike March 1st 2011, I have installed 400EX a arms and shocks with a shock relocator bracket that I fabbed up over the winter. I also made the light mount with guard and mounted an oil cooler. I am also rebuilding the 98 engine into a serious trail powerhouse, details on it are Here

This is the bike May 1st 2011, I have installed Motorsports Products nerf bars and a Spark's Racing X-4 exhaust system replacing the Cobra. I had to rebuild the top end due to a knocking sound inside the engine, diagnosed as a worn timing chain. While I was inside the engine I installed new intake valves, replacement exhaust valves and a stage 1 Hotcam.

Bought this nonrunning 2000 400EX in August of 2011 in Laurinburg, owner said he was riding and stopped for a couple of minutes and it wouldn't restart.font>
