In a battle of Mid-Southeastern and Two Rivers conference powers, the Pinecrest and Terry Sanford boys' soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie in Fayetteville on Thursday night. The Patriots (11-1-1) got a first half goal by Coby Kavanaugh off a scramble in the Bulldog penalty box. They had several chances to add to the lead, once on a rocket off the foot of Jordan Howlett that hit the post and bounced away. The home team (9-1-3) got even late in the second half when Domenico Grillo stepped into a ball just over the midfield line and sent it high into the net just out of the reach of the Patriot goalkeeper. Ranked 10th in the 4-A coaches association poll this week, Pinecrest will take a 6-0 conference record into Monday's match at Douglas Byrd. <-Previous 9-27-06 vs Seventy-First (W, 7-2) 10-2-06 at Douglas Byrd (W, 7-1) Next-> |
