A penalty kick by Marco Gironda in the 56th minute broke a 2-2 tie and the Pinecrest boys’ soccer team went on to defeat Middle Creek 4-2 at home Friday night.      The Patriots improved to 2-3 with their best offensive night of the season, while the Mustangs dropped to 3-2. Pinecrest opens Mid-Southeastern Conference play at 7 p.m. on Monday at Scotland County.      The visitors opened the scoring in the 26th minute, but the Patriots’ Matt Sessoms answered four minutes later, converting a pass from Tommy Ransdell. The Patriots took a 2-1 lead in the 10th minute of the second half when Travis Grasso received a pass from Michael White and, using his left foot, buried one from 18 yards away on the left side.      It only took the Mustangs 25 seconds to knot things up again at 2-2. It stayed that way until Gironda was tackled hard in the penalty box. He then gave his team the lead. With about three minutes left in the match, Sessoms crossed a ball from the right corner. Ransdell finished it after a scramble near the far post to complete the scoring.
