If you have read the story before this, you now know that I work in a supermarket. This story is about an 83 year old woman. I never knew her name until I read it in the local paper. She worked in the supermarket I work at. She was our demo representative. She has been there ever since we opened, 9 years ago. She was a sweet lady and the story I am about to tell you happens alot.
Everytime I saw her she would give me the samples she had and said that I would like it. It didn't matter what it was. Sometimes I didn't like what she gave me but I never let her know it. She seemed to like her job. The last time I saw her was about 2 weeks ago. She was giving samples of the caramel cappacino packets and of course said that I would like it. It was good. I heard about a lady dying but never put the name to the face. She died from a heartattack. The reason for the heartattack was a burglar had entered her home an hour earlier. All he took was $1 in currency, laffy taffy candy, a banana, along with some cards and her social security card.
Now this gets me! Why does someone so stupid want to pick on older people? Really, why does someone so stupid pick on anyone? And for what?!! I have never understood the society we live in. This takes the cake. Is there anyone who could explain this? It doesn't sound like this person who burglarized this woman had any sense at all. Could it be that he was on drugs? What other excuse could it be?
My family went through this in a way. The man that broke into their home was on drugs. He ran through the kitchen window and into the hallway. My dad had a rifle handy and told the man to lay down or he would shoot. Of course, the man did what he was told. When the police arrived there was such a commotion that the man got away. He then ran through the living room, into the den and through the sliding glass door. The drugs that he was on must have been powerful because he acted like it didn't phase him. The police found him 4 houses down. I mean this guy climbed fences and everything.
It is not fun to have your home broke into. It is like your privacy invaded. You wonder what you could have done to prevent it. You don't think that you can be safe again.
This has got to stop! What are we going to do about it? We can sit around and let the world take its course or we can do something about it. TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY!!!!! That is the best solution. They are what brought you into this world, don't let the world take them out. We need our older generation. Without them, where would we be? I am scared of what we have become. We are the cold and callous people that are out there on the streets looking for $1 in currency, that piece of laffy taffy candy or the banana that we so crave for. We are the society that has done this. GROW UP!!!!! This happens to all of us no matter the age, but we should try to protect the older generation. They can't fend for themselves. We should be there to help them.
