Spiritual Stone of Water - Zora Sapphire
While we're waiting for Navi to tell us what to do next, let's go see the Great Fairy's friend. Go back to Hyrule Castle and climb up and over the gate like before. Now, go straight to a dead end with a boulder. Blow up the freakin boulder!! Reveal the entrance to another Great Fairy Fountain and go on in. Do as you did in the other Great Fairy fountain: stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby. Another Great Fairy will pop up and give you Din's Fire. This is pretty useful too. It burns things, including bad guys and torches.
Sooner or later Navi well bug you again wondering if Saria would know anything about the other spiritual stone. This means, play Saria's Song and talk to Saria. She'll tell you that King Zora in Zora's Domain has it. So, let's do that logical thing and go to Zora's Domain!
To get to Zora's Domain, go by the entrance to the Kakariko Village and follow the wall to the left. When you get to Zora's River, you'll see Kaepora Gaepora. He'll tell you a bit about the Zoras, then fly away. When he's gone, blow up the boulders he was standing on then advance. Soon you'll come to a gate with a fat, blue guy sitting next to it. He's selling Magic Beans. Ever wonder what those "small mounds of soft soil" were for? This is it. Plant magic beans there and when you grow up, there will be a floating plant that will take you to places you couldn't get to before. (Look for upcoming section about locations of where you can find places to plant Magic Beans.) Now the price of the beans starts at 10 rupees and increases 10 rupees each time. Anyway, to continue, grab the nearby cucco and jump across the river. Continue north, watching out for octoroks, then jump across the river again. Continue on over the land bridge, jump down to the ground and follow the wall until you see a log in the river. Go to the spot where Navi glows green and pull out your Ocarina. Five frogs will hop in their appropriate spots. Play any song that you have learned and they'll hop along with the notes. After your song, they'll give you 50 rupees! Play all the songs and they'll have another game to play, where you have to hit the appropriate notes to make the appropriate frogs jump....But that comes later after you've learned the first row of songs on the "Quest Status" screen. Now, go back to where the cucco was and bring him with you until you get to the hill. Don't go up the hill, but south. With cucco in hand, jump onto the ledge, then up the ladder. Up here is another cucco and a boulder with rocks around it. Blow the boulder away and uncover the grotto under it. Hop in and find a fairy fountain! Stock up on fairies as needed then transport out. Now grab the cucco stuck up there with you and jump towards the right. Jump to the island with a gossip stone, then jump to the little island with a piece of heart and get the piece of heart! Now, by this time, your cucco is probably long gone. So go back and get one and bring it with you all the way to the big waterfall blocking the entrance to Zora's Domain. Using the cucco, get the other piece of heart! There should be a stone on the ground in front of the waterfall. Stand on it and play Zelda's Lullaby. The waterfall should decrease allowing you to jump through to the entrance to Zora's Domain.
Zora's Domain is my favorite place in the whole game. Listen to the computer, I put the music from Zora's Domain on the website. I like it, not so much because of the things in it, but...it's just pretty! Go on, call me a girl. Good, because I am one. Anyway, back to the walkthrough. Go forward, and up. Eventually, you'll go up a bunch of stairs and see a big fish dude. This is King Zora. Talk to him. King Zora...is a man of very few words. All he's going to say is something about is Princess Ruto. I'm sure you're going, "Huh?", but hey, long live walkthroughs, right? What you have to do is find out where Princess Ruto is. And so we shall.
But first, go to the left and talk to the Zora next to the waterfall. He'll ask if you want to play a game. Do it. He'll throw some rupees off the side and you have to dive down and get them all. It isn't that hard. If you get them all in the allotted time, go back up to the Zora, and he'll give you a Silver Scale! Now you can dive down to 6 feet!
Go back up the stairs and find a lit torch by King Zora's throne. Get a Deku stick, light it, and light the torch at the bottom of the stairs. Get another stick and light it with that, run to the store, light the torch near the entrance then run out to the shallow water and light the torch there. Now run and find and open area behind the waterfall get in the middle of the two torches and use Din's Fire. If you did all that quickly enough, a big chest will appear between the two torches. In it is a piece of heart!
Now, go towards the bottom, below the level where the store is and hop in the water. Look towards underwater and you'll see an underwater exit. Swim through it. You end up in Lake Hylia!! Now, on the bottom of the lake near the entrance you came from, you'll see some rupees, and something else. Pick up that something else and you'll see it's a letter from Princess Ruto! She's in Lord Jabu-Jabu's tummy! Well, even though the letter says not to tell her father, tell him anyway, but you can keep the bottle!
Swim back through to Zora's Domain, and go to the shallow water by the store. In the water, some fish are swimming around. Catch a fish in your bottle, then go up the stairs and show the letter to King Zora. He finds it hard to believe that his daughter is inside some big fish, which is understandable. But he will let you through to Zora's Fountain. Now, it'll take him awhile to scoot his big butt away from the entrance, but he will eventually, so follow the path to the right, past King Zora and into Zora's Fountain.
One of the first things you'll see is some steps leading to a huge fish with teeth. The big fish is Lord Jabu-Jabu. But before you bother with him, go into the water to the right and swim to along the wall. When you see a piece of land, climb on and blow the boulder away with a bomb. This will blow a whole bunch of the wall away and reveal the entrance to another Great Fairy Fountain! Again, stand on the Triforce symbol, play Zelda's Lullaby, and out pops another scary lookin' fairy. (Sheesh, I hope Navi doesn't look like that enlarged!) Anyway, she'll give you Farore's Wind. To use it, you have to be in a dungeon with a map. First time you use Farore's Wind, you create a Warp Point. The next time you use it, you can teleport to that warp point! Well...I never found it really useful, but hey, maybe you will. Now for Lord Jabu-Jabu. To get into him (lol), drop the fish in front of him. He obviously really enjoys fish because he sucks it right into his mouth, sucking you along with it!
Well, now you're in Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly. Ewwwww. Anyway, go forward and some Octoroks will pop up. Go on and kill them, and also the bubbles (Shaboms) flying around nearby. To kill the Shaboms, throw Deku nuts at them -- easy enough. Now, as you go forward, Navi will fly up to the ceiling. Take a look, and you'll see a switch thing hanging from the ceiling. Hit it with your slingshot and it will get rid of the webbing that was locking a "door". (It's not really a door just... a skin flap or something that closes off the different rooms. We'll just go ahead and call them doors.) So go on through the door and you'll encounter a floating jellyfish. Hit it with a Deku nut and when it falls, hit it with your sword. Stick to the left and go through the next door. In this room, you'll meet up with Princess Ruto! Now, I'll go on and tell you ahead of time. She's a little brat. She tells you to leave her alone and all this mess, then walks away. Being such a dork, she doesn't look where she's going and falls down a hole. I was laughing at her, but as a good hero, we must go down the hole after her. She'll still be like, "Go away!", but just keep talking to her. You'll finally get through to her and she'll "allow" you to carry her. Yipee. Anyway, we have to play the game to get through it, so carry her through the door behind you. Here is a long hallway of Shaboms, so put Ruto down and kill the bubbles, then bring her with you again. When you get to the next room, you'll see a ditch of shallow water. Don't get in! There are little thingies that'll pop up and fly at you. Just throw Deku nuts at them when they're under ground. When they pop up, hit them with your sword or with your slingshot. When they're gone, grab Ruto, hop down, and throw Ruto to the other side. On the wall, to the right is a Gold Skulltula. Step on the switch and make the water rise so that you can reach the side and pull yourself up to Ruto. Don't forget the Gold Skulltula token. Grab Ruto and continue down a long hallway. Find another switch on the ceiling, hit it, and go through the door. Wait for a bit, being aware of the Octorok, and a little floating island will come down. Holding on to Ruto, hop on. When you get to the top, hop off and you may find that this is the room before the room that you met Princess Ruto. Go through the door again, and go across the room, this time, not falling into the holes, and go through the door. Next you'll meet some wormy, flying things that again come from the ground that are called Tailpasarans. Avoid those and go to the tunnel at the right. Step on the switch with Ruto and webbing should go and unlock a door, so go on through the door. Inside is a room with a bunch of little thingies that fly around and dive at you (Stingers). Make them come out of the floor by hitting them with a Deku nut, then hit them, while flying, with Deku seeds or sword. Once they're all gone, a big chest will appear. Inside is the boomerang!! YAY!! Now you can stun enemies, or make items out of reach come to you. You know those Gold Skulltula tokens you can't get to? Now you can! :) Anyway, pick Ruto back up, and exit the room. Now go to the place with a bunch of Tailpasarans and go in the tunnel to the far left. Stand on the switch and drop Ruto. She won't like it, but you have to go in the room without her. Otherwise the switch will pop back up. Inside is a big red tail thing. Z-target it and throw your boomerang at it. It'll go up into the ceiling. Get close and when it comes down enough for you to hit the top, do so. But watch out, it'll try to hit you. Once you've hit enough times, it'll fall and die, and another big chest will emerge. Inside is the map! Now, go back out the room, and talk to Ruto. She'll yell at you for leaving, but oh well. She can deal. Pick her back up and go to the left. Navi will notice that that red electrical thing is gone, now that the red tail is gone. Ohhhh, so THAT'S how you get to those places that the electrical things are blocking. Now, go into the door in front of you. Inside are a bunch of Shaboms. You have to kill them in a certain amount of time! But don't worry, just throw Deku nuts everywhere and they'll be gone very quickly. The webbing that had blocked you when you came in will go away and ANOTHER big chest will appear, this containing the compass. So grab Ruto, and head back out. Go back to the Tailpasaran place and to the far right tunnel again. But this time, turn left before the switch and go into this room. It's another tail thing, this time blue. Kill it like you did the other one. No chest this time, but the webbing will go away, and the blue electric thing is gone. So go back to the Tailpasaran place and go in the middle tunnel. Inside is not only a green tail, but also Biris! (Those floating jellyfish.) Get the Biris first, avoiding the tail, by simply hitting them with your boomerang. Then get the tail. Again, no chest, just webbing gone, and the green electric thing gone. So grab Ruto, leave the room, and leave the whole Tailpasaran area, back to the room with the holes in the ground. The green electric thing is gone, so fall into the hole where it used to be to your right. You land on a platform you couldn't get to before! Get the Gold Skulltulas with your boomerang if wanted, then go through the door. In here, Ruto starts spazing out wanting you to throw her up to a jewel thing. So before she has a hissy fit, throw her up there! It's the Zora's Sapphire! She says she found what she was looking for and that she wants you to take her home. But as you go to get her, the platform she's on suddenly flies to the ceiling! The door gets webbed over and an octopus-lookin' thing comes down with the platform instead of Princess Ruto! It's a Bigocto! I'll say... When it starts to come for you, hit it with your boomerang. It'll turn around and start running. Run after it and hit it in the butt with your boomerang. When he freezes, slash him with your sword. He'll wake up again and come after you, just keep doing that. Be careful not to touch the sides of the platform. There are spikes that'll rip you up if touched. Eventually, he'll spin around and die, opening the webbed doors and lowering the platform. Get on the platform and you too will be flung towards the ceiling. Once up there, look around and you'll see some pots, one of them has a fairy. On the other side is a hallway with some Biris. Kill the Biris and go through the door. In this room you'll encounter an Octorok and some red jiggly things. Hit the red things with your boomerang and they'll turn purple and you can hop on them to the door. Go on to the next room and you'll see a ledge across from the door. Jump on it and it'll fall down to the room with the two boxes. Grab one of the boxes and head on to the new area. Step on the switch and put the box down and go through the door. This room has a bunch of floating jelly fish, but they're easy to kill. Now climb up the vines, being aware of a Gold Skulltula on one side. Once up there, look toward the middle of the room and you'll see a switch on the ceiling. Z-target it and hit it with your boomerang. It'll get rid of the webbing and unlock the door. Enter the next room, you enter Barinade's lair...The first things you'll see are these huge electrified jellyfish. Then you'll see this...organic looking thing. This is Barinade, the Bio-electric Anemone. Z-target it and throw your boomerang, making sure to stay moving. If you stay in one place, she'll electrify you. What you'll be hitting with your boomerang are little arms attached to the ceiling getting electricity, from somewhere. Once you've beat up those arms, the main thing will let go of the jellyfish and the jellyfish will float around, still connected to the main thing. Just run up to the main thing and start whacking with your sword. After awhile, it'll get up with a fresh set of jellyfish and start spinning around. Stay Z-targeted and keep your distance. When it slows down a bit, hit it with your boomerang. After awhile of this, it'll fall into the ground so that you can't hit it, so start boomeranging at the now-detached jellyfish. Once they're all gone, the main Barinade will fly up really high and you have to boomerang it like that. When it falls, start slashing with your sword. At some point, she'll fall way into the ground and start shooting electricity at you. Just keep circling around it while Z-targeting and boomeranging. After awhile, it bubble up, explode and die. (Which was nasty. I personally was about to barf.) You've defeated Barinade!! So, collect your heart and go into the light...but wait a second, Ruto is in the light! Oh well, go on anyway. :)
You'll wake up looking straight at Ruto (a scary thought), and are so scared, you fall off the log you were on and into the water. She'll tell you about how you saved her, then you ask for the Spiritual Stone of Water. She'll explain that she's to give it only to the one she is to marry. She likes you, so she gives it to you. Oh well, you've got the Spiritual Stone of Water! Yay!! We'll deal with the... uh, engagement later. Now, start out on your way to see Princess Zelda!
