C.J smiled at her reflection in her bedroom mirror. She was finally ready for the dance. She checked her watch. She still had at least an hour until the others came to pick her up. C.J was wearing a deep blue dress. It was short and had short sleeves. It was made from that material that clung to you. The dress had tiny silver stars of glitter like stuff on it. On her feet were a pair of silver heels and she had put her hair up in a bun with piece's of hair left down around the bottom of her skull.
"Mom! I'm ready!" C.J yelled out. Mrs. Appleton walked into C.J's room and she smiled at what she saw.
"Honey you look beautiful" She said. C.J grinned.
"Thanks Mom" She said as she hugged her mother. C.J knew this was going to be a night that no one would forget.
"Oh Wow... Jaymi... you look fantastic!" Kayla squealed once Jaymi emerged from her room. Jaymi twirled around in a circle. Jaymi was wearing a short, pastel yellow satin dress with white stockings. Her shoes were like ballet slippers, but they were a sandal base with straps that Jaymi had criss crossed up to her knees and then buckled them. They were also white. Jaymi had a waist jacket that came with the dress. Her hair had been pulled back with one of those metal headbands that made it look like she had little braids across her head. She had left two piece's of hair down and had coloured them with a pastel yellow hair mascara.
"Why thankyou... you don't look to bad yourself" Jaymi said smiling. Kayla laughed and the two of them headed downstairs. Kayla picked up the camera and held it up to her face, then turned and pointed it at Jaymi.
"Smile" she said. Jaymi smiled and Kayla took her picture. Jaymi then took a picture of Kayla. Just then Malcom walked into the living room with Brooke behind him.
"Oh my god... I never thought I'd say it but you guy's look great" Malcom said as he smiled at his little sisters.
"Thankyou... hi Brooke" Kayla said.
"Hey... you do look really good... hey Mal.. maybe we should have gone to the dance after all" Brooke said. Malcom shook his head.
"Noooway. I'm spending a nice quiet night with you" Malcom said, putting his arm around Brooke's shoulders.
"Well, we're definitely going to our graduation dance". Brooke was in the same class as Malcom. Malcom nodded.
"Of course." He replied. Jaymi got Brooke to take some pictures of the twins together and then she joined Malcom in the den. The twins were sitting on the couch when Jaymi looked down at her hands.
"Shit! I forgot my rings!" She cried. She then dashed upstairs. She had just walked into her room when she heard the doorbell ring. She smiled, knowing it was Isaac and Zac.
"Hi guy's" Kayla said, once she opened the door. She felt her heart drop when she saw that Taylor wasn't with Isaac and Zac. She had secretly wanted him to come.
"Hey Kay" Both boy's said.
"Where's Jaymi?" Isaac asked.
"Upstairs" Kayla announced. Isaac smiled and then headed up the stairs to Jaymi's room. He found Jaymi in her room and standing at her dresser, poking around in her jewellery box. He smiled when he saw her. She looked beautiful. She caught his eye in the mirror and then smiled at him.
"Hi" She said, turning to face him.
"Hi" He replied. Jaymi crossed the room and hugged Isaac. "Ready to go?" He asked her.
"Yep... tonight's gonna be perfect" Jaymi said. She didn't know just how wrong she was.
"Ok, just one more picture and then you can go... C.J, Zac, we haven't gotten one of just you two yet... come stand over here" Mrs. Appleton said. She had been taking picture after picture of the group. C.J and Zac went and stood where Mrs. Appleton was pointing. Zac put his arm around C.J's waist and pulled her close. C.J put her arm around Zac's waist. The both smiled and Mrs. Appleton took their picture. "Ok, you guy's can go now"
"Finally" C.J said. The group said their goodbyes and left, all piling into the van Mr Hanson had lent Isaac, Brian was getting a lift with his date. They arrived at the dance half an hour later and could hear the music from the school car park.
"Wow! this is going to be great!" Jaymi said, not hiding her excitement. The rest of them agreed and they made their way into the hall. Once inside, Kayla was stopped by Amanda.
"Kay! You look great! ... Hi guys!" She greeted them.
"Hey Amanda.." Jaymi said. They weren't the best of friends. The boy's and C.J said hi and then the couples went their own ways. Kayla turned to Amanda.
"Do you feel weird showing up to this without a date?" She asked her. Amanda shrugged.
"I'm used to it! .. hang on.. didn't Jaymi and Isaac set you up on that blind date?"
"It feel through." Kayla said, not wanting to explain the whole afternoon's events.
"So I guess we are both 'Desperate and Dateless'!" Amanda exclaimed. Kayla laughed.
"I don't know about you.. but I'm not desperate!" She told her friend. 'Everybody Get Up' by 5ive started to play and Amanda squealed.
"I love this song! Come dance with me!!" She cried, grabbing Kayla's arm and pulling her out to the dance floor. Both girls started to dance to the song and soon Kayla was dancing with a guy she barley knew. All she knew was, he was in her science class and he was extremely cute!
