"Hey Vanessa" C.J greeted her friend at lunch. Vanessa looked up and smiled.
"Hi C.J" She said. C.J sat down across from Vanessa.
"What's up?" C.J asked.
"You've got a date for the dance haven't you?" Vanessa asked.
"Well, yeah but he's just my friend... nothing romantic or anything... why?"
"Well, I haven't. No one's asked me and the dance is getting closer and closer" Vanessa wailed. C.J sighed.
"Vanessa... the dance is still like two months away... there's plenty of time for you to get a date!" C.J tried to console her friend.
"Hey.. you're birthday's coming up isn't it?" Vanessa asked, obviously wanting to change the subject. C.J grinned and nodded.
"This month.. on the twenty third"
"Oh my god!" Vanessa exclaimed. C.J looked confused.
"What?"
"That's a day after Zac Hanson's birthday! He's only a day older than you!" Vanessa cried. Vanessa was a huge Hanson fan. C.J smiled.
"Yes Van... I was fully aware of that... hey... just out of curiosity... what would you do if you saw Hanson? Like you got to meet them?" She asked.
"It depends on where, who they were with.. that sort of thing... but I would try to act normal around them" Vanessa answered.
"Right... ok" C.J said.
"Mandy.. let me ask you something" Kayla started as the two of them walked to their next class. "If your sister wanted to set you up on a blind date with her boyfriends friend... would you do it?"
"Of course" Amanda replied. "But I thought you were going out with Taylor?.."
"We broke up" Kayla said. "Ages ago.. I thought I told you". Amanda thought for a moment.
"Oh yeah! you did to... I've got the memory span of a goldfish"
"How long is that?"
"About three seconds... that's why they swim around the fish bowl all day long.... everytime they go around the sight is new to them" Amanda said. Kayla laughed.
"Where did you find that out?"
"Adam told me" Amanda said, refering to her ten year old brother. "So, Jaymi want's to set you up with one of Isaac's friends hey?" She asked. Kayla had told Amanda all about the twins knowing Hanson. She had even told her about going out with Taylor. Kayla nodded.
"Yeah.. Jaymi said his name is Jed... but I don't know... I already agreed to it.. only god know's why"
"Well I think you should go.. it will be a new experience! I mean, no one at the dance has to know that Jaymi and Isaac set you up with this guy.. is he good looking?" Amanda asked her friend. Kayla shrugged.
"I wouldn't have a clue... but Jaymi told me he is.. but then again, she thinks Isaac is better looking than Taylor..." Kayla said, her gaze suddenly going to the ground. Amanda laughed and hugged Kayla.
"It'll be ok..you'll get over him soon." She said. Kayla looked up at Amanda.
"The thing is..I don't want to get over him!" She wailed and brust into tears. Amanda put her arm around Kayla and led her into the girls bathroom. Jaymi, who had only been a few feet behind the pair, saw the whole thing and followed them into the bathroom.
"Kay? You ok?" She asked. Kayla shook her head and went over to her sister. Jaymi hugged her.
"I'll ..ah ... leave you two to it..Kayla, I'll see you in class." Amanda said and left. Kayla calmed down and looked at Jaymi.
"I'm sorry.. we better get to class." She said. Jaymi nodded and the girls walked out of the bathroom and went opposite ways to their next class, an unspoken agreement to meet after school.
"Brian? Is that you?" Mrs. Appleton called out from the kitchen.
"No Mom.. it's me" C.J said, walking into the kitchen.
"You don't know where your brother is?"
"Nope... haven't seen him all day" C.J said grabbing a cookie from the cookie jar. She then went up to her room and closed the door. She then put on "You Are Not Alone" by Micheal Jackson. It was her favourite song of all time. She sat on her bed and listened. She then heard the phone ringing. "I GOT IT" she yelled. She picked up the phone in her room. "Hello?"
"Hi"
"Zac!"
"How'd ya guess?" Zac asked, laughing. C.J smiled. It was alway's good to hear his voice.
"I'd know that voice anywhere.. how did you know to call?"
"Lucky guess. What are you listening to?" Zac asked.
"You Are Not Alone. It's my favourite song ever" C.J replied.
"Oh really?... there's another thing I know about you... I learn something new about you everyday" Zac said.
"You don't talk to me everyday" C.J pointed out.
"I'd like to though.". C.J grinned. She had found out from Zac that he had liked her the first time he had met her. C.J had admitted that she had disliked him for a long time but then he had grown on her.
"Where are you calling from?"
"Sydney Australia" Zac replied.
"Wow... what time is it there?" C.J asked.
"Umm... pretty late". The song finished and "Childhood" started to play. "Hey C.J? I gotta go now... I just wanted to call to say that I love you" Zac said. C.J's heart soared. This was the first time he had told her that and by the sound of his voice she knew that he meant it to.
"I love you to Zac"
