Chapter Seven

"How's Jess?" Amy asked as her and Zac walked around the mall, bored. Zac shrugged.

"I haven't seen her in a few days... but according to Kayla she's not talking about it... it's like she's forgotten it's even happened" He said.

"She wouldn't have forgotten about it. She just wants to block it from her mind" Amy said.

"Yeah, I guess. Can we talk about something else?" Zac asked. Amy nodded.

"Sure... are you coming to my birthday dinner?" She asked.

"Why? am I invited?" Zac asked.

"Of course. It's my sixteenth. And I want you there" Amy said, giving Zac a smile.

"Well, I guess I gotta obey you huh?" Zac asked, laughing a little. Amy nodded.

"Yup... or I'll give you a black eye" Amy said. Zac snorted.

"I'd like to see you try" He said. Amy laughed and then grabbed both of Zac's wrists so he couldn't move.

"Do you really?" She asked.

"No" Zac replied. Amy laughed and then let Zac go.

"So are you coming?"

"Sure. I guess" Zac said.

"Oh don't sound to enthusiastic about it" Amy said, pretending to be offended. But Zac's attention was not on her. "Hey, Zac... what ya looking at?" Amy asked.

"Oh my god... did you see her?" Zac asked. Amy frowned.

"See who?... Zac, there are lot's of girls around"

"No.. I mean C.J! I just saw her! Over by the optometrist" Zac said, walking over to the Optometrist. Amy followed him.

"Zac... you have to be kidding. You couldn't have seen C.J" Amy said. Zac shook his head.

"It was her!"

"You might have seen someone who looks like C.J... but Zac, C.J isn't here. She died. Remember?" Amy said gently. Zac glared at her.

"I remember. But it was C.J that I saw. I swear. Amy, listen to me. She looked right at me. It was C.J!" He said. He then saw the look Amy was giving him. "Don't look at me like that! I'm not crazy" Zac exclaimed.

"I never said you were" Amy said quietly. Zac knew that Amy didn't believe that he had seen C.J. He had seen her. He knew it. Her hair was longer and her face had changed alittle but he knew it was C.J. And she had looked right at him. Zac then wondered if he missed C.J that much that he dreamed about her while he was awake as well as when he was asleep. It was her. Zac thought. He knew he wasn't dreaming about her.

Jessica slammed her locker door shut and then pounded her fist against it. It seemed that all her friends were talking non stop about Jon and it was driving her crazy. She knew she wouldn't be able to take it for much longer. No one but her brothers and the twins knew about what had happened to her and she planned to keep it that way. Jessica hadn't even told Carly about it. Jessica leaned her head against the cool metal of the locker and closed her eyes, willing the tears to go away.

"Hey, are you ok?" A voice asked from beside her. Jessica looked up and saw a cute boy standing next to her, a worried expression on his face. Jessica wiped her eyes and nodded.

"Yeah, I'm fine" She said. She looked around her and noticed the hall was nearly empty. Everyone had gone home.

"You sure? you hit that locker pretty hard" The boy said. Jessica found that the boy was being nosy and that got on her nerves.

"I said I'm fine" She snapped. She then started to walk to the gym for her cheer leading practice. She knew she was late and the other girls would not be happy about it. Jessica noticed the boy walking next to her. That aggravated her even more. She stopped walking and faced him. "Look are you lost or something? The way out is that way" Jessica said, pointing behind her. Despite how rude Jessica was being to the boy, he smiled.

"Well, I am new here but I know what way is out. I just wanna make sure you're ok" He said.

"Well, I'm perfectly ok now if you don't mind I'm late" Jessica said and then started to walk away. Once again, the boy walked with her. Jessica stopped again and faced the boy angrily. "Why are you following me?" She demanded, her hands on her hips.

"I got nowhere important to go" The boy replied. Jessica glared at him

"Who the hell are you anyway?"

"Coldan... Coldan Edmonds" Coldan said.

"What kinda name is Coldan?"

"Hey, it's not as common as Brad or Jake but I like it" Coldan defended his name. Jessica sensed that she had offended him.

"Sorry... I'm Jess" She said. She looked at her watch and saw that she was five minutes late for cheer leading practice. She then decided not to go. She looked up at Coldan. "Well, Mister I got nowhere important to go, I guess you can walk me home if you really want to" She said.

"Sure..." Coldan said and the two of them started walking.

"I just gotta warn you, I've got three older brothers who will beat the crap out of you if you try anything" Jessica said.

"Ok, got it" Coldan replied. "But don't worry... I know guy's say this all the time but I'm not a creep. So I wont try anything with you or any other girl" Coldan said. Jessica shrugged.

"Ok, but I was just letting you know" She said. Jessica was very weary of Coldan and she made sure not to walk to close to him. She was happy to see Kayla in the front yard when she got home. "There's my sister in law" She lied. "I gotta go... see ya" She said and then raced over to Kayla.
