Jessica opened her locker and shoved her books inside. People were still giving her odd looks and stopped talking when she walked past. She was getting sick of it. Her heart had stopped a few times when she thought she saw one of the boys that raped her, but then she remembered that they were locked up. They couldn't hurt her again. She was about to close her locker when a flash of blue paper caught her eye. She picked it up and opened it. When she read it, her eyes grew large and she started to shake.
Jess,
I don't know how much longer you have. Watch out. He's coming and he's angry. You ran away from him once, you wont get away again.
A friend.
Before Jessica knew what to do, everything went black.
"Hello, Printan Publishing"
"Hello, this is Mrs Anders from Tulsa Memorial Junior High School, could I talk to Isaac Hanson please?"
"Sure, I'll put you through, one moment please." A voice said. A minuet later Isaac picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is Mrs. Anders from Tulsa Memorial Junior High School. I'm calling to let you know Jessica is at the hospital. She collapsed at lunch time. I tried to call your parents but no one answered and your down as an emergancy contact. Could you go to the hospital and pick your sister up?" Mrs. Anders asked him. Isaac was shocked.
"Ah, sure, I'll be there in five minuets." He said.
"Thankyou, goodbye." Before Isaac could answer she hung up. Isaac placed the phone down and grabbed his car keys. He walked out of his office and across the hall to Taylors.
"Tay, I have to go, your on your own for the rest of the day... ok?" He said. Taylor looked up from his computer.
"Huh? why, what's up?" He asked his brother.
"I have to go pick Jess up from the hospital, she collapsed in school." Isaac said, already on his way out. Taylor got up and followed him.
"Hey! wait, she what? I'm coming with you." Taylor said. Isaac stopped and shook his head.
"No. I need you here. Come to my place after work, you can see her then." Isaac answered and pushed open the double glass doors and walked outside.
"Ike... I'm fine. You don't need to do this!" Jessica said. She was now sitting on Isaac's couch with Isaac sitting across from her, trying to find out why she had collapsed. Isaac sighed.
"Why wont you tell me?"
"Because it was nothing! I just got a little dizzy thats all"
"A little dizzy? Jess, they had to take you to hospital... thats more serious than getting a little dizzy" Isaac pointed out. Jessica sat back in the couch and folded her arms across her chest. Isaac could see that something was seriously wrong with his little sister and he wanted to help her. But she obviously didn't want his help.
"Ike, just take me home ok?". Isaac shook his head.
"Nope, you're staying here. Mom and Dad aren't home and I'm not gonna let you stay home on your own where you can collapse again" Isaac said.
"Isaac! I'm not a baby! and I said I was fine!" Jessica said. But she knew that Isaac was going to keep her there. Just then Taylor and Kayla walked in. "What are you doing here?" Jessica asked nastily, staring directly at Taylor. She still wasn't talking to him and she still hadn't forgiven him for telling their parents about her rape.
"Stop it Jess. He came to see if you're ok" Isaac snapped.
"Well I'm fine and I want to go home!" Jessica cried, standing. "And if you wont take me home then I'll walk!" she said. She then started to walk out of the living room but Taylor blocked her path.
"Sit down Jess" He said. Jessica glared at him.
"Move!" She hissed. Taylor shook his head and took his little sister by the shoulders.
"Sit down and stop acting like a three year old!"
"I'm not acting like a three year old! You two are acting like two over protective fathers! Well I have one of those! I don't need you two to act like a father to me. I want brothers! And Zac is the only one who will act like a brother. I'm sick of it.. I'm sick of you, I'm just plain out sick of my pathetic life!" Jessica yelled before she shrugged out of Taylor's grip and ran out the front door.
"She's right you know. For the past couple of months you two have been ordering her around like she's your daughter. She's not. She needs brothers... like she said." Kayla said before going after Jessica. She didn't have to go far, Jessica was sitting on Isaac's front step. She wasn't crying, she was just staring out into the street. Kayla sat down next to her and decided to wait until Jessica wanted to talk.
"For all my life I've been known as Hanson's little sister... even today I still get girls at school firing questions at me about Isaac, Taylor and Zac." Jessica said. Kayla wondered where this came from.
"Is that why your so angry with them? Isaac and Taylor I mean, is that why?" Kayla asked. Jessica sook her head.
"No, well, part of it.. I'm not angry with them, just annoyed. They act like I''m their responsibility or something, I'm not, I'm their sister.. thats all." Jessica said. Kayla nodded. She wasn't going to ask her what the other reason was. Kayla knew that when Jessica wanted to tell someone what was going on in her head, she would.
"Do you want to come back inside?" Kayla asked. Jessica shook her head no. Kayla sighed. "Ok, I'm going in.. when you feel ready come in ok?"
"Yeah." Jessica said, turning her eyes away from Kayla. She didn't want to talk to anyone and she wished Kayla would go away.
"Ok" Kayla said and then got up and walked inside. Jessica sighed. She had no idea who was writing these notes to her. This was the fourth note she had gotten and it was no longer just a stupid prank someone was playing.
