Chapter Twenty Three

"Come on... where are you?" Zac said to himself. It was 12:00 pm on a Sunday and he knew that for some reason, he had to hurry.

"Zac!". Zac turned around the the sound of someone yelling his name. He then saw Toby, the person he had been waiting for, jogging up to him.

"Toby, hey, um, thanks for meeting me here." He said. Toby shrugged.

"I'm making twenty bucks out of it. So, I have some news you want to hear?"

"Yeah... you know that party ages ago, the one we met at... I didn't sleep with Amy did I?" Zac asked. Toby snorted with laughter.

"You? and Amy? no way. She was all over you that night but you were so wasted that you couldn't even get up... a couple of friends of mine saw her go upstairs with some other guy.". Zac stared at Toby. He suddenly felt deleriously happy. He knew he could win C.J back with this information.

"Oh man you have saved my life!" Zac cried, nearly hugging Toby.

C.J took one last look around the front hall. Everyone was out so she was thankful for that. C.J picked up her suitcase and opened the front door. She was surprised to see Zac standing there, his hand raised to knock on the door.

"What do you want?" She asked him coldly. Zac took a deep breath and opened his mouth to talk.

BEEP BEEP!

C.J looked past Zac and saw her taxi was there. "Get out of my way Zac!" She said, pushing past him. C.J was halfway down the driveway when Zac suddenly realised what was happening.

"C.J! Wait! Where are you going?" He called, running to catch up with her. She was already at the taxi. loading her bags into the trunk.

"Zac, go home! Just leave me alone!" She snapped, climbing into the back seat. Zac grabbed her arm.

"Where are you going? I have to tell you something! You can't leave!" Zac cried. It was then that out of the corner of his eye, Zac noticed a ticket in C.J's hand.

"Like hell I can't! Zac, piss off! I don't love you anymore! Go have your life with that slut and forget about me!" C.J yelled, tears welling up in her eye's. She then yanked her arm out of Zac's grip and slammed the car door shut. Five minuets later, Zac watched the taxi turn the corner and he knew that was the last time he would see C.J again.

Zac walked slowly home. He felt like shit and he knew he had lost C.J forever. She didn't even give him a chance to tell her his news, what he had known all along. When he reached his front step he stopped. Why had he let the girl he loved walk out of his life? Just like that?. Suddenly Zac had an idea, He turned around and headed back to town.

C.J handed the money over to the lady at the counter.

"Thanks love, I knew I could trust you." She smiled. C.J gave a weak smile and stepped out side. She knew that leaving without saying goodbye was harsh. But she also knew that if she told them she was going, they would surely try and stop her and she was afraid they would succeed. C.J set her bag down and sat down next to it. She sighed, still not sure if she was doing the right thing,. Then she imagined the future.. Zac and Amy together with their child. Poor kid, to have a mother like Amy. Half an hour later the bus pulled up. It was another hour before C.J could step a foot on the bus. As she didn't have much baggage, she brought it on borad with her and set it in the seat next to her, hoping it was empty. It was. There weren't many people on the trip, which made C.J glad, less time at the stops and quicker to get home. C.J looked out of the window and saw a figure running towards the bus.

"It can't be.. that idiot!" C.J exclaimed. She watched as Zac climbed onto the bus and saw his eyes searching for her. When he found her he smiled.

"C.J! You have to get off and listen to me!" Zac cried, walking forward down the isle to where C.J sat.

"Zac! get off! I told you I don't love you anymore! go home! leave me alone!" C.J hissed, tears welling up in her eyes, hoping that Zac would convince her to get off the bus.

"C.J, you do love me! You know I would never, never do anything like that to hurt you! I lost you once, I'm sure as hell not going to loose you again!" Zac said, grabbing C.J up from her seat and flinging her over his shoulder. He then turned and made his way off of the bus, leaving the other passenges opened mouth with shock.

"Zac! Put me down now! Who the hell do you think you are? You can't just come storming onto a bus-"

"C.J, I didn't sleep with Amy! and I have proof! a guy I met at the party doesn't drink so he was pretty well aware at what was happening, anyway, he said Amy tried to get me to go up stairs but ended up going with some other guy! C.J, I didn't sleep with her.. I'm telling you the truth. This is the last time I'll tell you this.. now you can choose to go back to Colorado and leave me or you can give me another chance and beleive me when I say that I have never cheated on you.. not even when I thought you were dead! I didn't touch another girl.. and then when you came back, C.J it made me the happiest guy on the planet! I couldn't beleive it.. I thought I was seeing things when we first saw each other in the mall. C.J I love you so much. I have never loved someone as much as I love you. I would never even dream of hurting you like that. C.J, I'm begging you.. please don't hate me for something I didn't even do." Zac said. By the time he had finished, both C.J and Zac had tears streaming down their faces. C.J wrapped her arms around Zac and kissed him deeply. What he had just told her meant everything in the world to her. He didn't sleep with Amy! When they pulled away Zac looked down at her. "So, you beleive me?" He asked uncertainly. C.J grinned.

"Yes! Zac I beleive you! I'm so sorry for all the things I said! and for slapping you.. I was just so hurt and angry and I really didn't know what I was doing. Amy looked so smug telling me that you were the father of her baby. I love you so much!" C.J cried hugging him again.

"Hey miss... you on this bus or not?" The bus driver asked, stepping out of the bus. C.J looked at Zac and then shook her head, smiling.

"No sir... can I just get my bag?"
