PART 1
"Good morning, Amy, Laurie," welcomes Jo with a lively smile, "What brings you here today?"
"Good morning, Jo," greets Amy, giving Jo a hug.
"We have a surprise for, Bess," says Laurie anxiously, "Where is she?"
"I think she's inside," answers Jo, "Why don't we go check?" she suggests.
"Just a minute," replies Laurie, "Samantha?" he calls. Hearing her name a girl, Samantha, steps out of the carriage.
"Jo, this is, Samantha", explains Amy, "She's a good friend of, Bess."
"Oh, well then, I'm Jo Bhear," Jo introduces her self, "Welcome to Plumfield."
"Hello, Mrs. Jo," Samantha says politely. Jo looks her over; she has fair skin, strawberry-blonde hair, a charming smile, and mischievous green eyes. Jo is pleased with her; those eyes reassure her that Samantha will have no trouble at all fitting in with the other children.

Once inside, Jo introduces Samantha to Rob, "Samantha, I'd like you to meet my son, Rob. Rob, can you say 'hi' to Samantha?"
"Hi, Samantha", says Rob shyly.
"Hi, Rob", answers Samantha trying to sound inviting, "You can call me, Sam."
"It stuck!", exclaims Laurie surprising everyone with his sudden out-burst, "I thought you hated my little nick-name!".
"I did", retorts Samantha with a giggle, "But, since you got everyone in Boston calling me that, it has to stick!", Laurie just laughs.
"Rob", Jo asks her son, "Could you go get Bess for me?".
"O.K.", Rob answers running around the corner, almost crashing into Nick.
"Wow, Rob! Look where you're going!" Nick exclaims shaking his head, "Jo, we're almost out of horse feed, I thought I'd go into town
and get some more".
"Sure," replies Jo, "But, first I'd like you to meet, Sam. She's a friend of Bess."
"Sam?" Nick questions looking puzzled.
"It's the nickname Laurie gave me", Sam reassures him.
"Oh, well, it's nice to meet you, Sam," Nick says smiling, "Will you be staying for awhile?"
"If it's okay with Mrs. Jo," Sam answers glancing at Jo. "Of course!" exclaims Jo, "That is if it's okay with Amy and Laurie."
"We were hoping she could stay here with Bess, anyway", says Amy smiling at the pleased look on Sam's face.
"Well, I'm of to town," says Nick, "Is there anything you need me to get?"
"No, I don't think so," replies Jo.
"Than I guess I'll see you all later," says Nick. As he turns the corner to leave, Bess almost crashes into him.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Nick," Bess says with an innocent smile, "I didn't see you there." Nick shakes his head and sighs. Bess walks into the parlor with Nan following close behind, "Hello, mother, father," greets Bess with a smile, "What are you doing he--SAMANTHA!!!" Bess exclaims, "What are YOU doing here!!!"
Sam laughs at Bess' surprised expression, "Well, I told you I'd be visiting."
"But....I....Oh, it's so good to see you again!" exclaims Bess as she hugs Sam.
"It's good to see you, too," says Sam smiling, "Now, introduce me to your friend," she says gesturing toward Nan.
"Oh! Sam, this is, Nan," introduces Bess smiling at her friends.
"So, your, Nan! Bess has told me so much about you, when she writes I mean," Sam says trying to sound enthusiastic, "You can call me,
Sam."
"Hi, Sam," Nan says trying to sound just as enthusiastic, she really hopes Sam will like her.
"Bess?" Sam asks, "If this is a school, where are all the kids?"
"Oh, there down by the creek," Bess answers, "We can go down if it's okay with Mrs. Jo," she finishes, glancing at Jo.
"It's fine with me," Jo says smiling, "but, be careful."
"We will," reassures Nan as they leave the parlor.
"Goodbye, mother, father," says Bess giving them each a hug.
"Thank you for bringing me," thanks Sam.
