Aaron's Party

(pres. by TEENick)

Sunday July 15, 2001
Timberwolf Amphitheatre - Paramount King's Island

A day at King's Island in itself is rare for my and my sisters, but getting to top that day off by seeing two (or so we thought…) Carters perform was even a rarer treat! And hearing that Nick might be there…I was definitely impatient as we waited for the gates to open outside of the park theatre. The water ride adjacent to the theatre was a main attraction as the soundcheck time rolled closer. Going up the hill, most people on the ride were looking over at the stage, seeing if we could see Aaron out there (we think we did!) We stood outside the gate to the in-park theatre at 4:30, hearing people say that that was when the gates were to open. Posters of Aaron and Leslie peaked over the fence and I was starting to go crazy because this was the first time I would see Aaron Carter live! Finally, at 4:40 on my watch (actually it said 16:40...) the gates opened and crowds streamed in. First stop for most people was the souvenir booth, the first place inside the gates. Me and my sisters headed around the crowd to the other side of the theatre to the autograph booth and stood in line for 15 or 20 minutes until Leslie Carter came out to sign autographs! This year we actually got her signature and it was cool. Jane Carter was there with her and I got a picture of them both. While standing in line, one man said he was backstage (he had a VIP sticker on) and *saw* NICK CARTER there. Boy was I happy (cuz i LUV Nick!)! The girls behind us were the only thing that bothered me a bit...nasty comments and stuff...but I didn't care. Nick was there - making it to be a triple Carter dose!

Well, after fighting our way up to the souvenir stand and buying stuff (and overhearing GREAT news about AJ's wellbeing!) we decided to go sit down and get ready for the show, as it was 17:48 on my watch, 12 minutes from teh start of the concert. There was Aaron, sticking his head through the door in the fence to the "backstage" area, playing games with the fans as they screamed for him. Then the show started…first up was Nonny, Aaron's choreographer. She danced a little and sang a song, but I will be one to admit I was concentrating more on the tour buses. I saw Aaron jump onto someone's back and disappear behind a maroon and black one. I knew it was Nick immediately. Then I saw his head and it left no doubt that Nick was actually there, who I didn't expect to see until August 25 at Firstar. At one point I saw Aaron, Nick and Leslie as well, up behind the tour buses chillin' before Leslie went out. Back to the concert. Nonny left and out came True Vibe, containing the person responsible for creating the AWESOME guys 98* (yay!). They were a GREAT group, I was impressed both with their dancing and singing...WOW! Myra came out next and sang a few songs, I had a little bit of trouble getting into it by then because I knew Leslie was next and then Aaron was two acts after that...

Leslie came out on stage wearing a very "denim" outfit: blue jeans and a blue shirt with a long denim-blue jacket. She opened with "I Need to Hear It" and continued with "Shy Guy." After she sang the next song, "They Don't Know," there was some commotion behind the fence (where Nick and Aaron had been fooling around 30 minutes prior!) and people were paying attention to that rather than Leslie and she asked them to, you know, give her a little respect (which I can understand). She finished her set with her single "Like, Wow!" (as do her brothers when they perform...singles are the last to be done). I wanted to hurt the people next to me because as she left the stage they booed her; it's one thing to not like her (or any artist for that matter!), but its rude to boo her as she left the stage. She has gotten a *lot* better since I saw her last year and I really think it's cool that the whole family is so talented and travels together like that.

Well, next came A*Teens, who are a REALLY GOOD group! Only knowing bits of some of their songs, it was tough for me to get into it, but I tried and that helped get the energy going in me so I was more than ready for when Aaron came out! Sometime before or after the A*Teens [I can't remember!], Nick was standing in the gate to the "backstage" and talking to this little boy who was there with his father, it was really cute. But so the A*Teens left the stage after 6 or so songs and everyone in the audience was "Upside Down Bouncing off the Ceiling" (sorry, I had to put that in there!) waiting for the main act of the party to come onstage.

A clip came on the screen behind the stage, of a little Aaron when he was 9 or 10, and had "Ain't that Cute" "Crazy LIttle Party Girl" and "Crush on You" playing while showing old clips of him and his first videos and everything. It was so cute and everyone laughed when he said "I don't think I will have a girlfriend until I'm, like, 30"!! Then his dancers came onstage and the first few bars of "Star Spangled Banner" played as Aaron appeared onstage in a fashion that completely reminded me of the Backstreet Boys ... rising up on a platform in clouds of smoke! Screams most definitely erupted. Wearing a black shirt with "holes" around the neckline and black jeans, Aaron opened with "Life is a Party" and followed in an almost medley fashion with the song "Get Wild" from his *very first album*! Then his dancers appeared with flags and ribbons (YAY! I'm in color guard this was so cooL!) and he did "Iko Iko" which most of the people knew having bought his sophomore album and not bothering to get his first album (for "Get Wild"). Then came my favorite Aaron Carter song from Come Get It..."BOUNCE"!! Screaming (more and more!) and dancing I was really starting to 'get wild' (and funny glances from people in front of and next to me...including my sisters!) And then he picked up a couple cans of SILLY STRING (I swear it's a Carter Thing!) and sprayed the audience, then himself :-). Aaron disappeared backstage after taking his shirt off onstage and causing an explosion of screams.

Dressed in an all white suit with a gold money sign on the back of the jacket and a white hat, Aaron came back onstage and did a sort of dance routine before taking off his jacket (more screams) and hat and beginning the song "Outstanding." After the first verse and run of the chorus, a figure appeared on the back podium (where Aaron had come out of at the beginning of the concert). The figure was wearing black and, well…blue! After seeing the tattoos on his arms (the band on his right biceps gave it away…), I knew it was NICK [i think i was one of teh first to realize it, too!] and I started to scream and jump up and down like I do at Backstreet concerts...pretty much losing the rest of my sanity! Nick sang the next verse of "Outstanding" and he and Aaron did the chorus together. Oh, yeah, Nick was wearing black jeans and a tank top with a blue denim vest over it, had a blue bandana tied on his upper left arm and a black cast on his right hand where he broke it (don't you love the black and blue theme of dress? :-) ) Aaron and Nick disappeared for a short time after this song, then Aaron came back out, wearing blue jeans instead of the white pants, but still having on the white tank (he looked so much like Nick, only in blue and white instead of all black!) and sang "Not too Young, Not too Old" from his next album. Nick came out and sang the chorus (on *our side* of the stage, too!). No vest this time, just the black tank and black jeans, with the blue bandana…but he looked GREAT (as did Aaron, BTW). Then came a "song dedicated to all the girls out in the audience" … "Tell Me What You Want"!!! Nick was not out on stage for this song or for a while after. During one of the next few songs, Aaron managed to chug about a bottle of red Gatorade (my addiction! I LUV Gatorade!) …so now we know where all that energy comes from! :-) Next came "Real Good Time," another of my favorites from Come Get It and then he followed with a song "dedicated to all you out there, all the fans who came here to see me" ... "I'm All About You" and, wow!, I really like his voice on the ballads! It's like Nick's, but not really, and if they did a ballad for a duet it would be so pretty! :-) Then came a big song from his debut…"Shake It!" But most people didn't know what it was, when he asked us [I did! HEHE it bothers me those who say "im his #1 fan!" but didn't even know that!]. This was a fun song, despite the fact that the security guards made us all go back to our seats after Aaron had asked us to go up to the stage! He then ran off stage and then a black robot came out and danced around.

A small silver "spaceship" appeared on the left side of the stage and after a speech about how "radios wouldn't play his songs, MTV wouldn't play his videos, but he found his way into the hearts of millions of girls…" etc etc, the ship opened and Aaron came out of it wearing my personal favorite outfit (aside from the Laker's apparel): completely silver! A silver tank with red figure on the back, and silver pants that were like bell-bottoms flaring out from a red band at his knee. He performed "AC's Alienation" which has got a pretty sweet beat and, despite that I couldn't really understand what he was saying, it was a cool song! Then "Has anyone heard my new single 'Oh, Aaron'?" Definitely I screamed, knowing Nick was due back out on stage :-) !! I was singing along (and my sisters were confused at how I knew the song!) and of course screamed at the line "The blonde one, Nick!" Then the second verse and Nick was sitting on a bunch of boxes by OUR SIDE of the stage to do his part live! At the part where he says "How in the world could he do this?/I thought we were blood,/I thought we were family!" Aaron went after Nick with a squirt gun begging for tickets as Nick finished the song "By the way, you're on at eight/That's when the show begins!" appeareing to be trying to not laugh! Then Nick came back at Aaron with his own squirt gun and they went through an entire act of begging for tickets, and making fun of Nick ("At least I don't break my hand playing *basketball*!") and then, after being threated with an "alien" bodyguard of Aaron's, Nick was like "Alright Aaron, I swear, I'll get you the tickets…I just gotta talk to the other fellas…" etc etc and "I'll get tickets for you … and for everyone else here!" pointing at us and receiving screams of approval. Aaron: "[to us] Hey hey, it's *my* show! [to Nicky] Nick, get outta here!" And Nick replied with some remark, then hugged Aaron [awwww!!!] and left the stage (for the time being!). Then came a cell phone call: "Hey Justin, it's Aaron. I can't come out tonight, I'm going to see this girl. No…no, her name is Candy, she's real cute. I gotta go, see ya!" And before he began singing, he asked us "Do you wanna hear this song, or not?" Of course we all screamed and he started "I know a girl who's tough but sweet…" I love this song and was going crazy (just like the the entire rest of the time as a matter of fact!).

Then, after disappearing backstage for a final costume change, a basketball hoop was set up on stage for, of course, "That's How I Beat Shaq." Side story: the people in front of us had this little kid, no more than two or three, who was falling asleep, but his dad held him up to watch saying "It's your favoirte song!" but I felt sorry because the kid was asleep shortly and the parents had to leave with the boy and his brother who were there and excited to see Aaron, but falling asleep. Awww! Anyway, Aaron came out wearing his jersey with a shiny cool lookin' "34" on it, a Lakers warmup jacket and Lakers shorts and was like "How'd they get a basketball hoop out here?" and started shooting (missed a few jumpers, then dribbled in for a layup/dunk). "Hey Nick, come out here!" and dragged Nick out, complaining about how Aaron deserves to be killed for "silly spraying me with the silly string!" Aaron: "Here, take a shot!" Nick: "You know I would, but I can't with my hand like this!" and he sat on teh speakers (on our side!) to watch Aaron shoot hoops. Then he got conned (by Aaron's getting us to cheer "Nick! Nick! Nick!" then Nick got us to cheer "Aaron! Aaron! Aaron!" then they got their own microphones and cheered for each other) into taking a few shots (from twice as far away as Aaron and on a lower hoop than the usual 10 foot height) and shot two close shots, but they bounced off the back of the rim, so Aaron got (almost!) everyone to "boo" Nick [I screamed 4 hiM!] and Nick sat down. Then Aaron was like "I have an idea…" and talked to Nick, then dragged none other than JANE CARTER out on stage to take a couple shots. Missing the jump shots, she did as Aaron did, and dribbled in and scored. Then she went off stage. "Do you want to know how I beat Shaq?" Aaron asked us. (SCREAMS IN REPLY!) Then he asked Nick the same thing, in reply Nick said, "I sure would, seeing as how you are so short!" and he walked off stage as the song began. After "That's How I Beat Shaq" Aaron asked if we wanted to hear his first single (the last song of the night!). He left the stage calling for Nick, and came back, Nick with a large (…get this, BLUE! LOL...) cowboy hat that was sold at King's Island at a souvenir stand. There was a random little dance to a country music theme and Nick was going pyscho, but that Nick for ya! Then Aaron stopped the music, sped it up (haha to Nick trying to dance!), then stopped it again, Nick left the stage and then began "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)." Wow! I was just going crazy by then and a little girl in front of me was immitating me as I jumped up and down and waved my arms, it was cool :-) but I was screaming so much at the end of the concert, when confetti and balloons fell from the ceiling of the stage *it was an outdoor concert BTW and the first concert I went to without RAIN!* and when Aaron dragged Nick out for the final bow…AHHH I was getting rid of the rest of my voice and worsening my headache (that was totally from screaming!).

So the Party was fun, and afterwards we went on a calm ride singing "Come Get It" (and hugging the picture I got of Aaron!) and then a roller coaster where I screamed "Aaron Carter RULEZ I love AARON CARTER!" instead of just, you know, screaming. It was a great day, the best part was the concert and I loved seeing Nick there because he's my favorite Backstreet Boy and it was cool to see him outside of being with the group…and with Aaron Carter cuz i luv them both AHHH!! My first Aaron Carter concert was definatly a party to remember…and I am hoarse [and near-broke!] to prove it! A TRIPLE CARTER DOSE is enough to make anything worth it!!!! CARTERS RULE!

KEEP THE AARON CARTER PRIDE ALIVE!!!!
