Catherine Thomas is the daughter of David Thomas and his second wife named Mary. She was listed in her father's 1844 Last Will and Testament. In the 1850 Chester County Census, Catherine is 13 years old and living at the house of her mother.

In the 1860 census, Catherine is listed below her mother and brother named Robert B. Thomas. Single, her children are William b. 1853 and Mary Jane born 1856. Living with Catherine in 1860 is Geo. Estes b. 1810.

In 1880, 37 year old Catherine Thomas is living at the home of Jefferson David Estes b. 1859 and his wife Mary Jane b. 1862. Living with Catherine is Mary E. Thomas b. 1872. Enumerated just beyond Jefferson Davis Estes is Catherine's son William Joseph Thomas b. 1853 and his wife Martha A. Thomas b. 1857. Did George Estes marry the daughter of Catherine? And who then is Mary E. Thomas age 8 in 1880? Could the census taker have made a mistake and written her age as 8 instead of 18?

The children of Catherine Thomas are:

A. William Joseph Thomas b. 1853, married ca. 1874 Martha A. b. 1857. There is a possibility that Martha is the daughter of George Revels. The children of Jos. William and Martha A. Thomas are (A) Harriet Adella Thomas b. 1875; (B) Beaula Thomas b. 1877; and (C) John William Thomas b. 1879.
B. Mary Jane Thomas b. 1856.
