Mr. Iltchev has gained a precious professional experience during his Internship at the Trade and Investment Promotion Section (TIPS) of the Trade Division, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, Geneva, from 13 March 2000 to 17 June 2000.

Under the guidelines of the Chief of the TIPS, Mr. Iltchev has been mainly responsible for the following:

• Assisting in the introductory drafting of questionnaires, reports and other documents related to different UN/ECE projects.

• Assisting in the preparation of major meetings, such as the "Forum on Electronic Commerce for Transition Economies in the Digital Age", the Fourth session of the Committee for Trade, Industry and Enterprise Development (CTIED); the Seminar: "Trade and Investment Promotion from a Local and Regional Perspective", jointly organised with FEDRE (Foundation for the Economy and sustainable Development of the Regions of Europe), etc.

• Conducting research on electronic commerce in the economies in transition, a network of national multiplier points in transition economies, and other issues.
  During his internship Mr. Iltchev has gained insight into the projects, processes and procedures of the Trade Division. In relation to his direct work he has significantly enlarged his knowledge of UN/ECE activities, regional cooperation and its implications for transition economies.
  Mr. Iltchev has always demonstrated excellent professional qualities, including a good knowledge of the overall economic and financial conditions in the countries with economies in transition, a good grasp of key issues in the field of regional cooperation and excellent linguistic skills. He has approached every task he was assigned carefully and diligently. His cooperative character and his willingness to help have endeared him to all. His professionalism and intellectual contributions have been significant.
