The Canterbury Hospital has the main Renal unit in Kent county and provides all types of renal replacement therapies including Haemodialysis, Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis and Automated Peritoneal Dialysis. Patients suitable for Kidney Transplant are referred to the Surgeons from Guy's Hospital, London, who hold weekly clinics at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Surgery for transplant is done at Guy's Hospital following which patients are transferred back to Canterbury for further follow up. In addition to the Central Unit haemodialysis is provided at three satellite units in Margate, Medway and Maidstone (Preston Hall). Home therapies is run by a dedicated team of doctors and nurses providing training and on going care for patients choosing peritoneal and home haemodialysis is their modality for renal replacement therapy.
