BIRTH SERVICES IN SIMCOE COUNTY

Along with Lynne Hart, Wendy and Melissa co-ordinate the county-wide (and BeYond) doula referral service. SIMCOE BIRTH SERVICES is an association of doulas across our ever expanding areas which include doulas in Simcoe County, York Region, Dufferin County, Grey-Bruce and Manitoulin Island. CARING HANDS MIDWFERY SERVICES is located centrally in Alliston with a satellite clinic in Newmarket. Midwifery services are fully covered by OHIP and include the following:

Prenatal Care:

Pre-scheduled 45 minute appointments
History taking and physical assessment
Screening for risk factors
Lab work and ultra sounds
Counselling in nutrition

Labour and Birth:

respect for women's choice of birth place - Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket or Home
Attendance and support during active labour and birth
Two attendants at each birth
complete care in home or hospital setting
referrals to other health care providers as needed

Post Partum Care:

Full postnatal care for mother and baby throughout the first six weeks
Breastfeeding support and counselling
Care provided in both home and clinic settings
