"Describe the countryside
of Pluto, as seen from Thorxx’ tower"
was my assignment
for Writer's Craft. ~WSL
In 3759 (Earth years),
the colonization of Pluto was completed. I, as the Sailor Soldier of the
planet, Pluto, stood before my subjects. The colonists were dressed in
traditional warm clothing. They seemed content with the shelters constructed
for habitation which would remain intact for a lifetime because they have
been made especially for our atmospheric pressure. I was about to read
aloud the proclamation of our success as survivors of a planet in contrary
orbit to the rest of the 0001 solar system. My time key was in my right
hand stretching the length of my body as I stood at the silver podium of
Thorxx’ tower. I looked at my surroundings and I was inclined to explain
to the 0001 what I saw before me.
Charon (my
planet’s moon) is in geostationary orbit with me at all times. She sits
above the horizon at all times and is a sight to behold. We are currently
the 10th planet from the Sun. At intervals throughout the Earth year system,
we can be closer to the Sun than Planet Neptune.
The ground
is covered with Klaputic grass. It is purple with streams of gold laced
throughout its soft textured surface of 16 centimetre long, soft threads.
I like this type of grass because it is rare in nature, like we are to
this solar system.
No “trees”
can be seen on my planet’s surface because of the abnormal temperatures
we have been accustomed to since we first experienced the harsh realm of
lower temperatures here on Pluto. As for the need for plant life, purple
Thyron bushes have been positioned next to the heat generator to sustain
the plants’ life span and to highlight the streaks of violet found in the
grasslands. The Thyron bushes were transported from Planet Saturn so the
Saturners do not have a large amount of them cluttering up their Arctic
region. Thyron bushes have a way of spreading like weeds through Saturn
(and now even Neptune) so we, Planet Pluto have offered to keep a variety
of Saturn’s
horticultural plants alive on our planet,
mostly Thyron bushes. I am regretting this decision because there are only
so many plants we can fit around the heat generator itself without sacrificing
our own body heat for aesthetic purposes. I must discuss this issue at
the next Soldier meeting. Maybe another generator would help (or just have
no more plants arrive from Saturn, that is my preference).
The Protusic
generator is humming at faint resolution about 58
kilometres west of me. It powers the
planet at a mid-sized frequency to that of Jupiter. It is relatively small
in size due to the construction efforts being sped up by the innovation
of the Rystic coil by the colony of Planet Venus.
The heat generator
is a massive machine that does not have a distinct sound to its operation.
The two generators are an eyesore for me because they are bulky and take
up space that could be used for shelters. I know they are required, but,
they are not running at full efficiency due to temporary problems which
are classified in knowledge. I would be more annoyed at the waste of space,
if snow were an issue, but, since it is not, I cannot argue with the Soldiers
about the size of the machines. There is room for some expansion and that
is our goal.
The pathways
to and from the shelters are made of Ashtic rock mixed with Throunton.
The red hue of the roads give the two generators a camion like quality
in contrast to the Throxx’ tower.
The tower stands
above the masses in a manner that would rival
Jupiter’s Aponst Hill where Lita makes
her annual “love the universe” speech. The tower itself is constructed
of a durable Throptatinium alloy which Saturn sent to us via a Hupter space
carrier. It stands at half the height of Froutial on Planet Mars. I did
not wish to have a grossly colossal structure protruding itself from the
surface of the Klaputic grass considering how great an asset having the
ground cover adapt to the atmospheric pressure of Pluto.
Pluto is a
very beautiful planet and I wish you would come to share its natural beauty
with me.
