"Yo, Rok we gotta go! The game’s gonna start!" yelled the tall blond haired boy who, at this minute, stood twirling a basketball on his fingers. He grinned, thinking "I just might be good at this" when the ball twirled off his finger and right into a glass vase. Smirking guiltily, he looked at his friend, who just walked in, and said "Oops!" The red headed boy with blond highlights looked at his friend with an exasperated look on his face and shook his head slowly. "Frick! What have we told you about playing ball in the house?" the boy christened B-Rok said. "Toss it here," he said and when the blond kid did so he smirked and ran out of the house with Frick running after him. The two boys weren’t brothers, but you could have sworn they were at first glance. The boy they called Frick, really Nick Carter, had short blond hair and a nice tan. He was tall, 6’1 to be exact, and nicely built. He had sincere blue eyes and the ability to talk loudly but not hear you. He was 18. The boy Rok, really Brian Littrell, was about 5’9, with beautiful deep blue eyes and an angel’s face. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, he had a soft Southern accent and drawled his words gently. He was 25. His nickname, B-Rok, came from the way he rocked the basketball court. No one knows where Nick’s nickname, Frick, came from. They ran down the street, tossing the ball playfully, running to the basketball court. They got there late, as usual, and grinned when a tall, dark haired, green eyed boy yelled, "Watch out! FrickNFrack coming! Disaster on the court!" Kevin said, using the name Brian and Nick got because they were so close. B-Rok grinned and gently shoved him to the ground. "OWWWWWW! Why’d ya do that!" he drawled in a bad phony 10 year old voice. "Cause I like shoving my older cousin around cuz," he said snickering. The tall guy was Kevin Richardson, otherwise known as Train, Brian’s cousin. He was tall, taller than Brian, about 6’2, with beautiful piercing green eyes and a serious face. He was also from Lexington, Kentucky, but had moved to Tampa because of business reasons. They heard talking and looked at who was doing it. Two men were walking down the street towards them, one talking loudly. The first male, tall with black hair tipped red, was gesturing wildly and laughing. He had on black leather pants and a blue fishnet shirt. His yellow shades colored his eyes a reddish brown and he had red high tops on his feet. He had tattoos everywhere. The other male, a little shorter than the first, was walking quietly by, just glancing at the excited young man every now and then. He had on black jeans and a tight blue T-shirt, with black sneakers. His long wavy black hair was pulled in a ponytail at the nape of his neck. He had dark features and dark brown puppy dog eyes that sparkled. These five guys were part of the Backstreet Boys, a hugely famous pop group that looked wonderful, sang beautifully, and danced like they were born with dancing shoes. They grossed quite a bit every year, and toured almost non-stop. They were in the studio mainly six days out of seven, sometimes seven out of seven. They loved they’re fans and were always going out of their way to do they’re meet-and-greets, sign autographs, and be with they’re fans. They reached the gate and the excited male stopped talking for a second, looking at the other guys. He grinned widely and said in a fake Bronx accent, "Yo, wussup yall?" They laughed and tossed the ball to him, then said to the other guy "Hey D, hey AJ, how yall doin?" The second male shrugged and said "Oh, fending off a crowd of teenage girls, buying a Mercedes-Benz, putting a 20 foot pool in my backyard. The usual stuff." The other guys laughed and Rok tossed the ball to him. Sweet D, or Howie Dorough, as he was more commonly known, caught the ball and flipped it to Nick, who dropped the ball, then lightly kicked it to Kevin, who picked it up and tossed it to Rok, who then passed it to AJ, who ran and make a basket in the hoop. He slammed it in and said "In your face Rok!" after throwing the ball down hard and watching it bounce erratically away. Brian ran and caught it, ran to the basket and easily made a lay-up. Kevin ran and caught the rebound, flipped it to Nick, who again dropped it, and then Howie caught it, throwing it from about 8 feet away, sinking a basket. He grinned and backed up as Nick caught it, then made a lay-up, which miraculously made it in the basket. As the ball bounced away it jounced to Kevin, hit his leg, and rolled away with Kevin not moving. He was gazing at the adjoining ball court with a faraway look in his eyes. By now it was about 11 o’clock in the morning, and others were at the courts. A group of about 7 girls and 2 guys were laughing and tossing two balls around. There was a redhead who was laughing and jogging with 3 other girls in a small group. Her long, wavy red hair swayed as she ran. Someone tossed a ball to her and she caught it, and, running effortlessly, tossed it into the basket, which easily made it. She looked over in their direction and flashed a bright grin at them, then continued running. By now the others had stopped running and stared at Kevin. He stayed that way for another few minutes and then started slowly walking to the bench. A.J. caught the eye of the other guys and motioned to keep playing, which they all did, save Kevin. They played for another hour, all of which Kevin sat on the bench watching the adjoining court, and then called it quits for lunch after Nick whined, "I’m hungry!" They laughed and then jogged to the bench where Kevin sat, talking all the way. "Yo, Train, come on, we’re gonna go eat. We’re all famished," said Bone, grinning. Kevin got up and started walking to the car in a zombie-like trance, got in the passenger side, and waited for the others. "Something’s up with him, and I think it has to do with that group of girls that came on the courts about an hour ago. He’s been acting dreamy-like ever since," said Howie softly. The others nodded as they got in the car and started it.

Rebecca’s View
"Why is that guy watching us?" I thought as I passed the ball to Janice, my court buddy and close friend. I shook him from my mind as Janice, 17, ran easily past and sank a jump shot. I caught the rebound and threw it back to Janice, who tossed it toward the basket but failed to make it. Something told me to look towards where the car was parked and saw that it was pulling out. "Damn, I liked them" I thought, "but wait, I don’t even know them!" I looked at the bumper stickers, which read ‘We luv 2 sing’, and ‘Frick’n’Frack’. "Why such strange bumper stickers?" I also saw that the guy that was watching me earlier as he sat on the bench was also watching as they tore out of the lot. Suddenly, I felt strangely depressed, and barely heard Janice yelling, " ‘Becca! Becca! What’s wrong?" Looking up, I saw Janice staring strangely at me. "I just passed you the ball and it hit your head. What’s up?" I shook my head and sighed, then said "Nothin’ Jan. I’m gonna head off to Micky D’s. I’m starved. Wanna come?" My old buddy nodded yes and walked over to get our towels and water bottles. I then commented to Jan, "You wanna come over after we eat and help me study for that history exam Coach Ruskin scheduled? It’s 1/3 of my grade, and if I fail, it’s good-bye Penn State, hello McDonalds. I’ll be getting acquainted with frying pans and how to flip hamburger patties the right way instead of books, tests, and cute guys." Jan laughed and said "Oh you’ll get acquainted with cute guys all right, if I have anything to do with it." We then reached my car, a 98 red Firebird Convertible, and jumped in. Janice jumped in, started the car and spun off, us talking the whole way. Offhandedly I mentioned the guys in the other court. "Uh, you didn’t happen to notice those guys at the other courts did you?" Janice just looked at me like I was nuts and said "Girl, are you crazy? I was staring at the one with the tattoos and red hair the whole time! He was a hottie!" she said, laughing. I chuckled and shook my head, knowing that Janice liked EVERY guy with a badass look. "So, which one did you like?" she asked grinning. I grinned, and said "The one with dark hair that was sitting on the bench most of the time. He was damn good looking!" She grinned slyly and said "I noticed him. He was checkin’ you out too!" By this time we pulled up to the McDonald’s parking lot and got out. We walked in and I stopped in my tracks, causing Janice to bump into me. "What the..?" she started and then saw what I was looking at. The guys from the court, including the tall, dark haired one, were sitting in a booth eating.

Brian’s View
"Kevin, don’t look now, but..." I said softly as the two girls from the court walked in. He turned to look and smiled slightly, then turned back to us. Howie chuckled as AJ looked at him and said "Go for it Kevvy. Looks like she likes you too. She’s blushing." He laughed and got red, and I knew then that he liked her a lot. He raked his fingers through his locks as if to restore some order to his long, mussed hair. He caught my eye and shrugged slightly, then got up and started walking over to them. Right before he got to them, the girl with red hair dropped her wallet, and change, papers, and pens were strewn over the floor. "Ohhh man! I can’t believe I did that! I am such a dork!" she said, looking distressed. She knelt down and started picking up the papers, which Kevin promptly knelt to help her. She looked up and said "You don’t have to do that. I can get it." He smiled and shook his head no. "Nah, I don’t have to be anywhere soon." I caught the eyes of the others and jerked my head back, motioning them to come back. Nick just stood there and I grabbed his sleeve, jerking him off his feet and causing him to yelp. "What the..?" I clapped my hand over his mouth and yanked him further into the shadows. He hit his head on the wall and immediately hunched over, clapping his hands to the back of his head. I knelt and said "Hey Nicky, I’m sorry ‘bout that. I didn’t mean to." He waved me off and slowly stood up, teetering precariously. He rubbed the back of his head and slowly shook himself, dog-like. "No problemo, cuz. Just buy me a strawberry shake and I’ll forget all about it," he said, smiling impishly as he pointed to a frozen yogurt stand. 10 minutes and $3.00 later, Nick and me were sitting in a booth with a strawberry shake and a peach yogurt. Howie and AJ were sitting next to us with 2 drinks. Kevin and the tall girl were sitting at a table near us talking. We heard snatches of conversation.

"So, Rebecca, how old are you?" "I’m 18, soon to be 19 in 2 weeks, the 20th of July. How about you?" "Me? Oh, I’m 22, will not be 23 for about a year," this said with an impish grin. "Well I would hope you would be 23 in about a year. If you turned 23 in two years when you were 22 that might not be right," she said, grinning a honey-coated grin. Kevin chuckling. "You’re comical, ya know?" "People say that. I take it as a compliment." "Good, you should," he said quietly.

More of the conversation we could not hear because Nick begged AJ to play Mortal Kombat III, which AJ complied with. They went to the games, with AJ grinning and telling Nick, "I’m gonna whoop your wanna-be badass, so get ready for defeat." By the time they actually got to the gaming room, Kevin and Rebecca were walking back to us. She smiled as Kevin introduced us to her. "Rebecca, these guy are my friends. This is Howie and Brian, and those two characters over there are Nick and AJ. Guys, meet Rebecca, and if I can get those two over here than they’ll meet you too," he said with a grin. I stepped up and wrapped Rebecca in a hug, which I think startled her, but she hugged me back and had a grin on her face. "If you can hold on one second, you’ll meet AJ and Nick too," I say, stepping back and jogging to the game room, where AJ and Nick stood before Mortal Kombat III yelling and griping. I step up and hold my hands between them, saying "Guys, don’t look now but that girl Kev was sweatin’ over at the courts is here, and she wants to meet you. If y’all can act right, then I’ll let you go over, but if you can’t, I’ll hafta hold your hands." That threat seemed enough to get them quiet and AJ, with one last kick at Nick’s character, stepped back and led the way.

AJ View
Being in front of Nick, I saw her first. She was beautiful, with bright green eyes and long red hair, tan skin and a tall, athletic figure. "Rebecca, right?" I say, and grin as she nods, then sweep her up in a big hug. She hugged me right back and after we step apart, I chuckle and say "You must have already met Brian and he gave you the ritual hug, huh? I’m AJ, otherwise known as Alexander James McLean, at your service." She laughs and says "Yeah, we met earlier." Nick grins and hugs her, pecking her cheek and says "Nice to meet you, Rebecca." I chuckle and think "Wow, she must have made an impression on him!" We all walk to our table and sit, chatting easily. "What do you do Rebecca? School, work, stay in a basement and talk to a parrot that says ‘Polly wanna cracker’?" says Nick. She laughed and said "Actually, as strange as this may seem, no. I work at, believe it or not, McDonalds, go to school, and live in half a house with my friend Janice. And the parrot thing seems tempting but I don’t own a parrot," she laughed and pushed back a lock of hair. I saw Kevin look toward me meaningfully and I nodded, knowing what he was talking about, but made a mental note to talk to him about it later. I caught the eyes of the others and minutely shook my head, and they nodded, knowing what I meant. Kevin wanted this girl to like him for who he really was, not for the guy on the cover of Teen Beat. We all wanted girls like that, who wanted to be with us for who we really were, not for the pop stars people thought we were. He wanted us not to mention anything about the BackstreetBoys. "Hey," said Howie "parrots are fun to talk to. They aren’t good arguers though. They make me laugh," he said, chuckling. "Howie," I said, "anything concerning a parrot would make you laugh." This remark had us all laughing, because it was sort of true. Howie had been going through a parrot stage lately. I nudged Nick slightly and looked at him, he nodded, then nudged Howie, who didn’t do anything but looked at me. I saw an understanding in his eyes and I smiled. He wouldn’t tell, even if someone forced him to. I knew Brian wouldn’t say anything and Kevin sure wouldn’t, so he was safe. Rebecca looked as if she was thinking about something and then said "Hey, weren’t you guys at the courts earlier? You look familiar." We all laughed and said, almost in unison, "Yeah, we were those guys." She smiled and said "I thought you looked familiar, yall were the guys my other friends were screaming over." She grinned sweetly but had an impish light in her eye. "Well, I was thinking, if yall can play so well, why don’t you meet us at the courts in about a week? I know I can get friends to come and if y’all aren’t scared, then come and show what you’re made of," she said, chuckling, leaning back in the booth. AJ, his competitive side coming out, said "Alright, we’ll be there. And we, my dear girl, will kick your tail." She laughed and said "Oh you will, now will you, Mr. McLean? We’ll just see about that."
