The Perfect Fan

Chapter 12

"Nick I'm so nervous," He held my hand as we walked into the waiting room, after I gave my name to the nurse.

"Samantha Wright," I stood up.

"That's me," I said quietly as the man in the white jacket, ushered me into the doors. He advanced his hand toward me, "I'm Dr. Martain, it's nice to finally meet you," I shook his head.

"You too."

"Come with me," I motioned for Nick to come with me. He stood up and grabbed my hand. We went a room, with two beds and the two people laying in the beds were not or at least didn't look like my parents.

"We found these next to the body of the female," he handed me a shaggy wallet with my mother's licenses. It was the first time I had seen her face that I could actually remember her face, "Yeah, but what does this prove?"

"Well, technically it doesn't but when we asked them who they were, what their names were, they said that they were Mr. and Mrs. Wright. We're not finished running all the test. We thought you could take a look and see if you could identify one or both of them," the man's was shaved to close up the stitches that ran along the side of his skull. The woman's hair was short.

"They can't be my parents," I didn't want to believe it, it wasn't possible.

"Well, we're almost certain but like I said there is no definite result until, we finish all the tests."

I swallowed, "Have you ran any blood disease tests?"

"You mean like AIDs?"

"Yeah, I mean like AIDs," I glanced at Nick who was staring at the man.

"We were running those today." Glancing at Nick again quickly.

I braced myself, "Well IF any trace of diabetes is found in that man," i lowered my voice, "then yea, maybe they're parents." Nick quickly shot a glance towards me and the doctor excused himself and disappeared into the back room.

I folded my hands, "Nick, I wasn't exactly honest about something else," he nodded. "I have a hereditary form of diabetes, that I was born with from my father. I've been going to the doctor's since I was five. He's not sure of what it really is, only a small portion of people have it. The only way someone can get it is if your born with it. It's not like an STD or anything, that, they're sure of. I also have suviorr bronchitis asthma. That's why I can't be on the swim team or the volley ball team. Unfortunately not the basketball team either," I started crying, "and I'm sorry I didn't tell you I understand if you don't ever want to see me ever again. Sometimes I wish I'd never see myself either," he hugged me tightly.

When he pulled me away a tear rolled down my cheek, "don't worry I'm not ready to leave yet," he smiled, then the doctor came back in, "Okay Ms. Wright, the test are being put into production we'll call you tomorrow morning with the results."

"Thank you."We left the hospital. Nick had his arm around my waist. I rested my head on his shoulder, "Nick thank you so much."

"You're so welcome. I'm glad I came. It seems there's more chapters to your story, Sam."

"More than you could imagine." He smiled and kissed my forehead.
