~**~CHAPTER TWO~**~
"So, let me get this straight. You got his number a week ago, but you haven't called him yet?" Megan said to me as we ate breakfast.
"Nope." I told her trying hard not to laugh.
"Don't even start laughing. This is serious. You need to get out more, live a little. Trina, call him. You two would make the cutest couple."
"I have to go to work in a couple minutes. I don't have time. Besides who ever said he wanted us to be a 'couple'?"
"Just promise me you'll call him." Megan pleaded.
"Why do you care if I call him?"
"Your to...oh what's the word...let's put it this way...you're to conservative. For as long as I've know you, which is a looong time, I've never seen you have a serious relationship. Sure, you've dated, but you've never got close to anyone."
"Okay Megan. I'll call him,LATER. God he's not that important." I told her, but I was lying. I, Trina Marie Larson, could not keep my mind off him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been ringing up cloths and counting change for 2 hours. That could get on a person's nerves.
'Good, cute kid coming to check out, it's about time.' I thought to myself.
"Hi si....Nick?"
He laughed. "The one and only. Man this is getting weird."
"Yeah, I know. So, how've you been?"
"Pretty good. Have you been on break yet?"
"No, after I'm done here I can probably go. 24.50 please.
Nick handed me the money. "How 'bout I take you out to lunch."
"Sure, I'd like that." I said handing him 50 cents back from his purchase. "Just let me go tell me boss I'm going on break." Two minutes later Nick and I were on our way to McDonalds. (AN: surprise, surprise.) Once we got there, we ordered and sat down in a booth.
"So, why didn't you ever call me?" Nick asked after taking a drink of his Coke.
"I've been busy." 'Yeah, busy NOT calling you.'
"Well call me. I get pretty bored just hanging out with my dogs."
I laughed. 'Dogs?' "Are dogs the only things you can get to be friends with you?"
"No, but none of my friends live around here."
"Oh, well when I'm not busy I'll call." I told him. 'That's like every second of the day.' I thought to myself.
"When do you need to get back to work." Nick asked me.
I looked at my ROXY watch."Um... now." God, time goes by so fast.
"Well then, we better go." Nick said pulling me out of the booth.
Five minutes later Nick had me back to work.
"I'll try to call you tonight if I have time before my classes start." I told Nick.
"Can I have your number?" Yup, he's definatly blunt.
"Um, sure, do you have a piece of paper?" I asked grabbing a pen.
"No, but I have a hand." He said sticking his left hand in my face.
I laughed and wrote my phone number on his hand. "You can usually always get ahold of me between two and six, but any other time I'm usually at work or college.
"Okay, I'll call you later." Nick said.
"K, see ya around."
"Bye."
'Weird.' I thought. It seemed odd to me that this is like the third or fourth time I ran into Nick in like two weeks. But hey, who's complaining. Whatta hottie. No..cutie, I just met him. 'Ughh, I've known Megan for waaay to long.'
*********************************
"Hey Megs, do you wanna go get something good to eat, there is absolutly nothing in this house that looks very appetizing." I yelled up to Megan, who was in here room writing a research paper for one of her classes.
"Sure, I'll be down in like a half hour." She replied right before I heard a loud crash.
"What was that?" I asked, not budging.
"Nothing, I just dropped my book." That's chemistry for ya.
I stood, still not budging from my place infront the the refridgerator. This happened atleast every week. Me or Megan search for food with no luck. I gotta stop eating so much. Sometimes I wonder how I stay for skinny.
The phone rang and I must've jumped two feet in the air.
"Ouch!" I shrieked after bumping my head or the refridgerator. I walked over to the phone and answered it.
"Hello?" I said into the receiever, all the while rubbing my head where I bumped it. 'God, I probably have a concussion.'
"Trina?"
"Yeah, who's this?"
"It's Nick." Ah, Nick......Carter. Wait a minute. NICK CARTER? Woah. Okay calm down.
"Oh...um....hi. What's up?" I asked him uneasily.
"Nothing much. Is something wrong?"
"Nope. Everything's just fine." No, nothing's wrong. I just realized your NICK CARTER a freaking BACKSTREET BOY . Can you say star struck? I mean I'm not obsessed with them or anything, but I was a fan when I was younger.
"Oh, okay. You just sounded....uneasy or something." Nick explained.
"Well, I am." Oh stupid stupid stupid.
"Why?"
"I don't know." What a STUPID thing to say.
Nick laughed.
OKay now I feel like a major idiot. I say the stupidest things sometimes. I guess Meg was right, I'm to shy nd not even close to outgoing. I close up like a clam around guys I like. Sometimes I could just kick myself. Mentally I was, but I've never actually done it.
"Yeah, I get that way sometimes too." Nick's voice interrupted my thought.
"Oh." I said. 'Okay you know what Trina? You are going to forget the whole BSB thing and just think of him as 'Nick'.' I thought to myself.
"So what did you call for?" I asked him. God, that came out rudely blunt.
"No reason really. My dogs are just boring me to no end."
I laughed remembering when he told me about his dogs. "Well, Me and MEgan are going out to eat soon, I could figure out where we're going and you could meet us there."
"Okay, sure."
"Hold on while I go see where we're going."
"I'm not going anywhere."
"K, be back in a minute." I said setting the phone down on the black marble counter top. I walked down the hall until I got to the slightly spiraled staircase and went up them. I went down the hall until I got to Megan's door and knocked.
"Yeah, what?" She asked.
"Where and when do you want to eat? I invited Nick."
She took her good old time answering. I stood drumming my fingernails on her desk while I waited.
"I'm in the mood for pizza." She finally said.
"Half an hour okay for you." I asked in return.
"Yeah, that's fine." She replied turning her attention back to her notes.
I retraced my steps back down to the kitchen and picked up the phone. "Pizza Hut, half hour, sound good?" I said in a rush.
"Yeah that sounds good."Nick replyed.
"Great. See you then."
"Bye."
I didn't really wanna rush him off the phone, but I was gonna follow Megan's lead for once and study. We need to study a lot if we planned to make it through college, then Medical School. We both planned to be doctors, only Megan wanted to be a cardiologist, following her grandfather's footsteps, and I am studying to be a pediatrician.
"Hey Trina, it's time to go." Megan barged into my room carrying her purse.
"Okay, gimme a minute, I'm right in the middle of this paragraph."
"Hurry up! I'm starving."
"OKay, Okay. I'm done." I said shutting the book and notes. "You wanna take my car." I asked grabbing my keys and walking to my Durango.
"I guess I have no choice." Megan muttered. She never could understand why I had such a big car for one person.(AN: Molly that is dedicated to you. HAHA)
15 minuted later Megan and I arrived at Pizza Hu and found Nick already waiting for us. We walked over to the booth and I slid in beside Megan.
"You'r late." Nick said only half joking.
"I was studying, sorry." I apologized.
"Have you been here long?" Megan asked Nick.
"About 10 minutes, not to long."
Aw, poor you." She was flirting. ERRR, there she goes trying to steal him. Typical. Wait STEAL him. he's not mine. God.
"Uh, let's order now, I'm starving." I blurted out.
Megan and Nick started giving me questioning glances.
"What? I haven't eaten all day." I complained innocently.
We ended up ordering a large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. My favorite. We all talked while we ate. We talked about anything we could think of. At one point Nick had Megan and I laughing so hard, I almost spit my pepsi out all over the table. About an hour later we were ready to leave. We all paid our share of the check and went outside to the parking lot.
"Hey Trina?" Nick called to me right before I climbed into my car.
"Yea?" I asked. He gestured for me to come over to his Durango. "Be right back." I told Megan.
"Yea?" I repeated when I got to his car.
"You wanna go out sometime? You know, just the two of us." He asked me nervously, starring at something on the ground.
"Sure!" I replied quickly. He looked up surprised. I must have been a little to loud.
"Okay, great. I'll call you."
"Alrighty. See-ya soon!" I said once again retreating to my car. I was so excited. I was going on a date with Nick Carter.
