Chapter Three

"Trina, would you calm down." Megan demanded, a hint of annoyance in her voice.

Calm down? CALM DOWN? SHE expects ME to calm down?

"Look Megan, I haven't been on a date in awhile, if you've forgotten, I'm a little nervous." I admitted.

"It's just a date there is nothing to be nervous about."

"Oh come on."

"I'm serious."

"Whatever you say. How do I look?" I asked, modeling my outfit for Megan.

"That shirt does not go with those pants. Here where this." Megan said handing me a blue halter top to go with my black leather pants. We were standing in my bedroom in front of my closet, debating on what I should wear. I found this situation funny, considering I have a HUGE closet. I settled on the shirt Megan handed me with the pants I already had on.

"Okay, time to do your hair." Megan said pulling me into my bathroom.

"What's wrong with the way it is now?"

"We have to straighten it."

Excuse me? "Why? I like the curls.

"Well hun," Megan said, "In this heat it'll get all frizzy."

"Hey, at least I don't have 'Keri Russel hair'." I hate how Megan always complains about my hair. It NEVER gets frizzy.

"HEY, don't dis Keri Russel, she's a star!" Megan defended.

"So?"

"Just don't."

"Your not touching my hair. I like it the way it is." I stood my ground.

"Fine, let me do your make-up then."

"Just not to much. I don't want to look like a barbie doll." I complained.

I sat silently thinking about the date I was going out on tonight with Nick. He called me last night and asked. Of course I accepted. How could I turn him down?

"Hey Trina, do you want to uh...go...outtomorrownight?" Nick asked in a rush.

"Um, Sure what time?"

"Around Seven."

"Okay, I have to go now. I have a huge test to study for. Sorry."

"It's alright." See you tomorrow."

"Alright, bye." I hung up the phone, beaming with delight."

"Hello, earth to Trina." Megan's voice intruded my thoughts.

"What? Huh?"

"I'm finished." She replied in a sing-song voice, obviosly happy with her work. I looked in the mirror to check it out. She really did do a good job. She put a little blue eyes shadow on to accent my blu green eyes, and a brownish lipstick.

"Wow, Megs good job."

"Thanks, now you stay here and when he comes I'll answer the door so you can make a grand entrace." Megan babbled in delight.

I laughed at here ansyness. Grand opening? What is she on? "What time is it?" I asked curiously.

"6:50, relax."

"I am."

As soon as those 2 words left my mouth the doorbell rang.

Oh, I'll get it." Megan said, already halfway down the stairs. "Treen, he's hee-rre."

A guy that's early- shocking. Oh wait. I'm confused. The girls are always the late ones. I thought to myself, Consentrating on walking downstairs, trying desperatly not to fall and break my neck in these shoes Megan insisted I wear.

I walked to the door where Nick handed me a rose.

"Aw, thank you." I said looking into his incredible blue eyes. I could get used to this.

"No problem. Ready to go." He asked eagerly.

"Yup. Bye Meg." I said waving. "So where are we going?"

"I can't tell you." Nick said with a sly grin.

"As, come on. Please?" I begged.

Nick just shook his head in reply.

Ten minutes later Nick pulled into a parking lot.

"Uh, not to be rude or anything. But where are we?" I asked.

Nick laughed at the confused look on my face. "No where."

"Huh?"

"Yet."

"What?" This conversation was starting to sound very one-sided.

Nick just laughed, grabbed my hand, and dragged me off to god knows where.

'I hope Brian did what I asked him to on time.' Nick thought to himself, suddenly stopping in his tracks.

"What's wrong?" I asked curiosly.

Nick started pulling something out of his pocket. "You hafta put this on." He told me simply.

"Um, Okay."

Nick tied a blindfold around my eyes. "Okay, let's go." He once again grabbed my hand and dragged me along.

Five minutes later we stopped and he told me to sit down.

I did as I was told. I could hear a clicking sound, and smelled burning candles.

"Okay, you can take the blindfold off now." He told me quietly- almost shyly.

I never in a millon years expected what I saw.

We were on a huge spread out blanket, on a deserted part of the beach. Red and white rose petals were strewn about, along with red and white candles that bordered the blanket. A pinic basket was set in the middle.

"Aw, Nick this is amazing. How's you manage this?" I asked getting a little teary eyes, but quickly blinking them away.

"A guy can never tell his secrets." He said smiling, taking the food out of the basket.

We had a wonderful dinner that lasted over an hour. Nick had me laughing so hard a couple times that I had tears running down my face. The guy is a major comedian. I learned more about him in that hour then I learned about Megan in all the time I've known her.

"Wanna take a walk?" Nick asked me after we finished eating.

"Sure, just let me take these shoes off. Megan convinced me to wear them and they're killing my feet."

Nick laughed and waited patiently while I took the shoes off.

"Alright. I'm ready." I said allowing Nick to help me up.

We walked in silence, hand in hand, for awhile. I could feel the cool, gritty sand squish beneath my feet and in between my toes.

"I had a REALLY great time tonight." I said, trying to break the silence. Putting a little to much emphasis on the word 'really'.

"I did to, we should do it again sometime." Nick said, smiling his sexy half smile that all the girls went crazy over.

"Sure, I'd like that. Do you think we could head bacl? It's getting late, and I'm kinda tired."

"Sure, come on."

A little bit later we were back in his Durango on the way to my house. We rode in silence - a comfortable silence. I occasionally stole a glance..or two..or three in Nick's direction. I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes sparkled in the soft moonlight.

Nick pulled into my driveway and stopped the car. "We're here." He announced.

"Yeah, we are." I said sounding disappointed. I hated this. The end of dates, that is. You never know what to expect.

"I'll call you sometime."

"K, thanks again for tonight. It was fun."

Nick slowly leaned over and kissed me softly on the cheek. "Your welcome." He whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. Wordlessy I stepped out of the car and inside.

"Well?" Megan asked impatiently, the second I stepped in the door.

"Well, what?" I asked innocently.

"Where'd you guys go?"

I couldn't hold it in any longer.

I squealed abd began to relive the whole night through words. "Megan is was so beautiful. We had a candlight picnic on the beach. Then we went for a walk. He is so sweet and funny. Oh then when we got home he kissed me on the cheek." I finished with a content sigh.

"AW, that is so sweet." Megan cooed.

"I know. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go take a bubble bath and unwind." I made my way upstairs to the bathroom, leaving an astonished Megan in the livingroom.

I took a nice long bubble bath. Getting out I blow dried my hair and put my pajamas on.

I layed in bed, recaping my date. I fell asleep that night thinking about the innocent, but sweet kiss Nick had giving me, a small smile playing on my lips.
