Private Dream Archives FAQ

Why archive a private dream?

You've invested a lot of time and work into creating a guild or dream that attracts a lot of players. What would happen to that place and your work if you stopped playing the game? Illness, computer crashes and other reasons have caused dreams to be lost forever to the community. Players like to revisit those old places and should your guild close or you decide to leave Furcadia, your work can live on. In addition, we archive the dreams offline so they are secure and you have a 3rd party back up of the version you submit should your computer or media crash.

How do I know my dream won't be shared?

Our interest is in preserving dreams as a part of the history of Furcadia. Its sad when a guild closes and its members move on and the dream is lost forever. To counter that we started a program to archive private dreams. If we ever shared even one or abused that trust, we'd lose the trust of the community and not be able to carry on our mission of preserving Furcadia history through its dreams. We will never, ever share a private dream archive with the public so long as that dream/guild is being actively used by its creator, or that person is active in Furcadia and requests that it not be made public. No one has access to the dream files and they are stored in a secure location offline so they cannot be hacked or stolen.

Who else has archived a private dream?

We keep that list private for security purposes. I can tell you we have dreams from currently active and popular guilds as well as main maps from DEP which are not yet approved for release. References are availble to rahs who want to talk to other rahs already using our back up service.

How do I submit a private dream for archiving?

Zip the dream and patch in an archive and email it to us (simonbeekin at hotmail.com). Include a text file in the zip that states the dream is for PUBLIC or PRIVATE archiving and it will be handled appropriately.
