Moon, Earth, War
Chapter 1
Violet Yen woke up when water splashed on her face. Her pretty pink shirt was now wet. She looked up at the person who had splashed the water.
“So, you’re awake now, Violet,” Mrs. Yen laughed quietly. “I want you wait right here while your father and I go for a nice boat ride. Is that okay?”
“Yes, Mommy,” two year old Violet said. Her voice was soft.
As Violet watched her parents sail away her eyes were shining proudly. Her beautiful, graceful mother was the great dancer, Madeline Yen. Her brave, handsome father, David Yen, was a peacemaker for the earth. He was fighting for a way to stop the war between the earth and the moon.
It is the year 3000. Mankind has begun living on the moon. Now the moon believes the earth is theirs.
Violet knew all about the war. She knew a lot for her age. For being two, her intelligence was higher than one of a senior in high school. No one knows why her intelligence was so high. Violet had dark, brown eyes, shoulder length black hair, and fair colored skin.
As violet watched her parents sailing back to land, soldiers came. These were soldiers from the moon. Violet never saw soldiers like them before. They wore a gray colored uniform, and on the sleeves of their shirts were the letters ‘M.M.’
“Excuse me, but are you Dr. David Yen?” one of the soldiers asked.
“Yes, I am. Is there something you need?” David said, docking the boat.
“We are from the Moon Military. We have a mission to find and kill you,” the second soldier said. David froze in place. Madeline slowly began to get up. Violet ran behind a tree. The first soldier pulled out a gun. “Say ‘goodbye!’”
BANG!
Madeline fell into the lake. Her shirt was starting to turn red with blood. “Foolish women! She would have lived if she hadn’t tried to protect you!”
BANG!
Now having a face of sadness and horror, David fell into the lake as well. “Mission complete,” the soldiers said with a chuckle.
When the soldiers left, Violet ran to the shore and began to cry.
“There is no need to cry little girl,” whispered a gentle voice. “Dry those tears. Here follow me.” The woman was about 60 years old, and she was a nun. Violet followed knowing that nuns were good people. Her mother had told her they were people who were always loyal to God. They gave faith to many people.
Violet and the nun arrived at a large, steel building with the word ‘OPHANAGE’ written on it.The woman introduced herself as Sister Ray. “What is your name, little girl?”Violet was too busy studying her surroundings to notice that Sister Ray had even asked a question.“How old are you?”
“Two,” Violet mumbled.
“Well, follow me. I shall take you to the room where the children your age sleep.”Violet followed without a word. “Here you go. Right now it’s playtime. Now I have some work to do.” Sister Ray left the room quietly.
Violet sat on the bed. Just then a little boy walked in. He had light brown eyes and bright green eyes.
Chapter 2
“I’m nothing here!” the boy said kicking a chair.
“That’s nothing to be angry about. There are plenty of other things to be angry at, ya know?” Violet said.
“Huh? I’ve never seen you around these parts, I mean, here. Are you new?”
“Yes, who are you?”
“I’m Jason Edwards. What’s your name?”
“My name is Violet Yen.”
“Okay. I’m five. You?”
“Two.”
“You’re small, but do you want to be friends?”
“Sure,” Violet said with a smile.
“I’ll show you around. Come on.”
*************
That night Violet couldn’t sleep. It’s not my fault they died, Violet thought. It’s not the soldier’s fault either. It’s Mommy and Daddy’s fault, right? It’s Mommy fault, because she tried to save Daddy. It’s Daddy fault, because he wanted to stop the war.
Days, the weeks, went by and every night Violet thought about this. Finally a month later someone came.
“I’ll take this little girl,” the lady said pointing to Violet. She was about 35 years old.
“Alright, fill out these papers,” Sister Ray said cheerfully. “Will you be taking anyone, sir?”
“Yes, this little kid,” the man said holding Jason’s hand tightly.
“Here, fill out these papers. Children, go pack your bags, and say good-bye to the other children.”
Jason and Violet did as they were told. After saying good-bye to the others, Violet and Jason went to pack up.
“See you around, Jason. That lady and that man a brother and sister. So, maybe we’ll see each other. Bye!”
“Bye, Vi!”
*************
In the car, Violet looked out the window quietly.
“Do you like the view, Violet?”
“How do you know my name? I never told you.”
“I know faces. My name is Janet R. Nickel. Call me Janet.”
“Okay, Janet.”
“Tell me, how did your parents die.”
“They were killed by M.M. soldiers.
“Well, you will certainly like to have revenge, right?”
“It’s not their fault. Mommy and Daddy getting killed it their own fault.”
“I’ll have to disagree with that. You will get revenge. Not just for your parents dying, but also for the world.”
“I suppose it’s wrong the moon wants control of the earth.”
“You suppose? It is! I’m going to make you a fighter!”
“A-“
“A fighter. We’re home!”
Chapter 3
It was a tall glass apartment building. Inside was very fancy and nicely decorated.
“Here is my apartment,” Janet announced, “number 248.”
Inside of apartment 248, each room had it’s own color. Dark blue for the front hall, orange for the dining room, green for the living room, red for the kitchen, pink for the 2 bathrooms, and purple for the library. All the bedrooms (3 of those in total) were light blue and white.
“That’s your room, Violet,” Janet pointed to an open door at the end of the hall.
“You have a nice apartment.”
“Thank you. I’m going to cook dinner now. Feel free to walk around.”
A half an hour later, Violet was reading in the library.
“Violet! Dinner!”
“Okay.” Violet walked to the dining room and began to eat.
“I invited my brothers to come tomorrow.”
“That’s nice.”
“You’ll get to meet the other boys who are training for the war.”
That night, when Violet went to sleep, she slept peacefully for the first time in a month.
Violet was awakened by the sunlight shining through her window. She could hear Janet cooking breakfast and smell the wonderful smell of butter. Violet changed into some clothes and walked out to the kitchen. She sat at the table and waited for breakfast. When breakfast came the doorbell rang.
DING-DONG!
