Patty Quotes

You Don't Seem To Miss Me:
We were listening to it, and I thought, man this would be such a great song for George Jones, but as I listened especially, when it comes to the pedal steel part, when we laid it down, I started hearing the steel part to it, I thought man this really sounded like those old, real classic old George Jones records.
Too Many Memories:
For me I would call this sort of like a much more of a reality song. Sometimes that we look back, that there are memories that haunt us sometimes, and uh, now that we look at where we are in our life, and um, sometimes you wish you had some of those memories back, to relive them again.

Well, she has finally fallen asleep. We shall now proceed to have an intellectual conversation, instead of this mindless drivel she has been force feeding you. Please excuse my typing, for you see, I have no thumbs. My dew claws are not thumbs, and will not operate as thumbs. My mean and evil mistress will not purchase a set of thumbs for me, so this leaves me severely handicapped. Now, my pearl of wisdom for the day, these are things we must each live by: When you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you are a mile away from him, and you have his shoes. Oh no! She is starting to wake up, I must take my leave, but we shall speak again soon.

Well, hello again my only loyal and faithful reader. Glad to see you made the cruise through cyber space. You know, I have the strangest feeling that someone has been messing with this. I am finding short little black hairs on the keyboard. Hmmmmm......I wonder........Nah,promo34.jpg impossible, she has no thumbs.

What can one say about this album that has not already been said. Once again, Patty managed to take her music another step forward. Though this is a somewhat darker album than the previous ones, it ranks as her best to date. I am sure her new album that will be out after "Classics" will have me saying the same thing. Without a doubt, Emory Gordy Jr. is the finest producer in Nashville. While other artists want to repeat their past success, Emory and Patty never seem satisfied with the last album, and make it a point to improve upon that.

The album kicks off with a ragin' fiddle intro for The Party Ain't Over Yet, which is a song about not giving up, to the final song, which is about death. On a personal note, even though I love the song Where I'm Bound please, no more songs about death. Let us make the next album happy, happy, happy, with a few tear jerkers thrown in. No death, no crossing over, no leading parades, no checking out, no kicking the bucket, no biting the big one, no riding rails of silver. It is difficult to drive 70mph down the road sniveling while listening to these type songs.

The best country song for 1997, was You Don't Seem To Miss Me, with country legend George Jones This was proven at the CMA Awards this past year when it won Best Vocal Collaboration...so HA! and another HA! to all you pop lovers who think what you listen to is country. Here is another HA! just in case you missed my point. This album is filled with timeless, classic music, you must have this one.

Here is a really cool thing to do. Late at night, summer preferably, get into your vehicle of choice, drive, turn on Too Many Memories, turn it up loud and groove. Trust me, this is just too promo35.jpg cool, you could do this with the entire album, but this one is the best.

This was only the second album that Vince Gill did not sing back up vocals on. (Hmmmmmm.......)

Well, it is now time to move on to the best of the best...the greatest hits collection from her Epic recordings titled Classics. Enjoy the review that my partner wrote...

Spellcheker Notes

I'm baaack!! This is my second spellcheker note, and my most daring to date. because, you see, I am going to disagree with T. (ooh, that rhymes!)

Our Tee says in the above review that Long Stretch of Lonesome is a "dark album". Granted, I find driving down the road listening to Too Many Memories, Long Stretch of Lonesome, and Where I'm Bound a bit difficult, too, ( but then, again, I do not drive 70 mph in a 35 mph zone like that little speed demon does, at least that's what a friend of mine, who is very close to T.but shall remain nameless, told me ) but none the less, I have it on very good authority that this album is not considered dark by the artist, herself. How, do I know this, you may be asking yourself?? Well, I will tell you...Patty, herself, called me and told me that it was NOT a "dark album"!! Oh yeah, she called me...really she did, we're good friends, yeah, that's the ticket, next door neighbors, she even gives me gardening tips and recipes all the time, yeah, that's the ticket, had a sleep over just the other nite. (ahem) ANYWAY, she says that it is an album about life....that it takes you right through every basis of life from beginning to end, and that was the way they laid it out. She also said that of all the albums she has done, Long Stretch of Lonesome and When Fallen Angels Fly are the two that she is most satisfied w/every song. That doesn't surprise me at all, seeing as how Long Stretch Of Lonesome and When Fallen Angels Fly are MY two favorite albums, also.

Well, am I still here?? Is this spellcheker note still here?? Am I going to have to face the wrath of Tee, and have to start bowing down to her again??? For the answers to these and many other stupid questions, keep checking back, if for anything else, just to see if I am still here.
