Phillip Sweet

Phillip Sweet (the pale cowboy) was raised in Cherokee Village, Arkansas in the Ozarks. He grew up in a musical family. His mother had a weekend country variety show and all of his brothers and sisters were involved in music in some way. Phillip learned to play guitar and keyboards and wrote his first song when he was nine years old. When he was ten, he became a featured soloist in his church's touring musical group. When he was fifteen, he began performing in his mother's variety show. When he was in high school, he made the decision to pursue music instead of playing sports. He played football until tenth grade, then started playing music every weekend. He attended Arkansas State in Jonesboro on a vocal scholarship before moving to Nashville in 1997. Almost immediately two of his songs were recorded by the Southern-Gospel group The Martins. During the day Phillip wrote songs and at night he stocked grocery shelves and worked as a security guard. A man Phillip had been writing songs with had been performing corporate shows with Karen Fairchild and suggested they meet.

Nobody knows that..."When I was 10 years old, my two older brothers and I would take off in my dad's old blue Pinto and pretend we were the Dukes of Hazard by taking turns climbing out of the window and holding onto the roof like Bo and Luke."
I wish I could..."fly in space."
I've always had a crush on..."My kindergarten teacher Mrs. Heinke. So was so pretty and she gave me the big smiley face sticker one day for making best grade in the class."
