Jimi Westbrook (the resident redneck) was born in Arkansas and raised in Sumiton, Alabama. He grew up singing in church. After doing his first solo at the age of twelve he was hooked. He knew music was the only thing he wanted to do. He played sports and sang in the Dora High School ensemble. During his senior year, he was up for the statewide competition in the high jump at the same time the ensemble was going to Florida to sing. Jimi chose to go with the ensemble, much to his coach's chagrin. He attended community college on a vocal scholarship, then transferred to other schools where he sang in various groups. He took a job as a salesman in Birmingham to pay for his mounting college debts. One week after quitting the job, Jimi received a phone call from Karen Fairchild. He moved to Nashville to join the group in 1998. Jimi and Karen got married on May 31, 2006.
