The "It's All About Me" Alto

Kathy's bio:

        Kathy’s the singing novice of the group.  She grew up playing the piano and guitar , but never  imagined she would someday be singing in a vocal ensemble like “Let’s Do It”, holding down her own part.  While her quartet-mates were busy singing in high school choruses and musicals, she was happily fulfilling her athletic calling in tennis, gymnastics, volleyball and figure skating (yes, figure skating!). Her only singing experience was playing and singing at guitar masses in the 60s in a kindler, gentler era when everything went, including bad guitar playing and off-key singing.  

        It wasn’t until Kathy met Shauna, who suggested they join the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco, that Kathy began to realize her lifelong dream to sing.  She sang with the L/GCSF for 2 ½ years when she experienced the wonder of 6000 singers in the GALA Choruses gathering in 2000. Subsequently she joined MCC San Francisco’s Gospel Choir where she has found her spiritual home.  Throughout her various musical endeavors she remains committed to unifying the queer community by singing in and being visible in mixed-gender groups.
