Regenerarts
Regenerarts :- this collective London project forms the foundation for its many aspects to be realised and explored. The group are already in negotiations with local housing and community groups regarding secure space to house workshop and exhibition spaces for the rest of this year, as well as these urban projects the group are working to establish an alternative arts and technologies center in a rural location using renewable energy resources and open to the public as an educational facility. Some progress with both these aspects of the project has been made and will be established in time for summer season 2002 when elements of the group will also be touring a mobile stage and cafe presentation visiting festivals and events around the UK and Northern Europe. |
Our work in progress ........ After just two weeks on location this classic example of urban decay pictured above, with large amounts of waste materials and debris all over the open courtyard area, has been transformed. By clearing the waste produce and using it for the basis of permaculture beds and re-cycling any useful materials for art works this industrial wasteland has been turned into a clear and creative space with a garden atmosphere. Damp and decrepit warehouse spaces have been cleaned and decorated to house exhibition and workshop facilities, Living facilities have been redecorated to house a voluntary ground team to care-take the premises. While all this has been achieved without exterior funding, purely by the dedication of the individuals involved, with adequate support such self help initiatives should be encouraged and supported within our urban communities and Two weeks later .........
