Okay, I know what you guys are thinking...this band hasn't even existed for a year, why the hell do they have a history page? Well, I'll tell you. In the age of VH1 behind the music and many other music bio shows, I thought it would be best if we told the story ourselves. So sit back and watch the evolution of your new favorite band...Favorite Shirt ...Andrew The first meeting...August 24th, 2001. ---Mike, Jessica, and Andrew had all signed up for the same Social Psychology class under the brilliant instruction of Dr. Bradley Redburn. Andrew and Jessica were put into a group project together and exchanged phone numbers and email addresses. They soon began to hang out and discussed music as a common interest, but nothing came out of it. The idea comes...October 4th, 2001 ---While doing an emotional I.Q. quiz, Andrew found out that Mike was also multi instrumental. After the class ended, Mike, Jessica, and Andrew decided to try playing music together. The first gathering...October 6th, 2001 ---Basically the three of them just messed around, musically that is. Nothing was accomplished except the decision they wanted to continue playing together. Getting a drummer...October 13th, 2001 ---Graham Stone, who had played with Andrew previously, was brought in to play drums. The line up at the time became: Andrew: guitar/vocals...Jessica: bass...Mike: keyboards...Graham: drums Losing a drummer...October 27th, 2001 ---Graham had not shown up for two weeks in a row. This would not do. The line up was altered as Andrew moved to drums and Mike moved to guitar. The search began for other members. Tryouts begin...November 10th, 2001 ---David Daneman came to play with the band, but their music styles just did not mix. Getting a new keyboardist...November 17th, 2001 ---Erin Hammeke was welcomed to the band after a very brief tryout. Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter added...November 18th, 2001 ---Former Sapphire Gin guitarist Tai Vokins was added to the band. Favorite Shirt tries out a new drummer...December 22nd, 2001. ---Shermer drummer Lou Ochs plays with the band. Getting a new drummer...officially...December 27th, 2001. ---Lou called Andrew and said he was in the band. Practice was scheduled for Saturday. First five person practice ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! December 29th, 2001. ---Although Favorite Shirt had been a five person band for over a month, this was the first time that five members actually practiced together. Favorite Shirt record first demos...January/February 2002. ---In a brief period of time, Favorite Shirt recorded demo versions of "SWA", "Tonight Every Night", "Three Months", "I Can't", "Tag Line", "Shelter From the Sky", "Maple Court", and O.M.D.'s "If You Leave". Two recording sessions were scheduled with Brent Hoad at Rear Windows Studios in Prairie Village, KS. Lou named band member of the month...February 1st, 2002. ---Lou cancelled many other obligations throughout the month of January to earn his spot in Favorite Shirt, as well as quitting his other band, Shermer. New member tries out...February 22nd, 2002. ---In an effort to cut down recording time, Marisol Garcia was tried out as a multi-instrumentalist for the band. As practice ended, the lineup for the band was still up in the air. Guitarist quits the band...February 22nd, 2002. ---In a private conversation with Lou, Tai quit the band. We wish him the best of luck in future musical endeavors. Bassist quits the band...March 5th, 2002. ---After receiving a full scholarship to Missouri University, Jessica quit the band, leaving Andrew as the only original member. The search begins...March 5th, 2002. ---Andrew and Erin begin an extensive search to find the perfect fourth member.
