Product Of Society

The first thing I thought of when I heard this CD is Sham 69. It has the same Hardcore Punk sound. From a band who describe themselves as Punk, Hardcore/Industrial, Thrash, Raggae/Ska, (basically anything loud with indecipherable lyrics I suppose), comes Product Of Society from Florida, and who better to describe themselves than………themselves!

"We're just in your face. Music gives you an outlet for every feeling there is. We get it all out. Energy. We focus all our aggression and anger into the music. We play catchy punk anthems with other styles all mixed into it. Raw energy. Basically we do what we want when we want and if you don’t like it, you can piss right off!! We play styles of music ranging from Conflict and Crass to the Clash and Oi!, to more melodic bands such as Iceburn and Jesus Lizard. And to end this egotistical rant about how cool we are, Blaaaaaaaaaagh!"

All I can say is, there is certainly aggression in these songs, and thank god they do take out their anger in their songs cos I certainly wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of it!

Obviously Product Of Society have a great passion for what they do, and they do it just as well as any other hardcore thrash band I've heard. It didn’t exactly get me head banging, instead it got me a bit, erm…dizzy? It started to make my head spin after a while (or maybe that’s still the effects of last nights alcohol binge!) . Maybe if there had been a few mellower sounding songs inbetween it would have been better, but this is a punk band, so I very much doubt they do mellow! Another thing is that, (can't believe I'm actually going to say this but….) all the songs sounded the same (…..i must be getting old!). That’s just my opinion though, put them on a stage at the Vans Warped Tour and im sure they would go down an absolute storm. One thing that does bother me a bit though is the vocalist, he does actually sound so much like Kermit the Frog in a few songs its uncanny, (and I expect, slightly worrying for Miss Piggy!).

The CD only cost $5 post paid, so it’s a right bargain.

Rocking or Shocking?
Rocking. 3/5. Best listened to under an anaesthetic! If this is a product of our society, god help us!!
