The only news worth mentioning this week is the HUGE leap by Geri Halliwell, whose "Ride It" moves 30-11. Elsewhere, Joss and Tina are still No. 1 on the singles and albums lists, respectively, and the Top Debut on the TrackList comes from Hilary Duff, whose "Someone's Watching Over Me" is basically the one good thing about the otherwise D+ film Raise Your Voice.
Hilary's not the only one who has just released something worthy of immediate disposal. Her "enemy" Lindsay Lohan just dropped a bomb of her own: new single "Rumors". It's a laughably bad piece of paranoia pop with whiney, unbelievable lyrics, drowned-out electronic vocals, and worst of all, no discernably danceable rhythm. While I enjoyed "Ultimate" (from the great Freaky Friday) and "That Girl (Drama Queen)" (from the abysmal Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen), "Rumors" (from her upcoming first album) earns her just the kind of bad publicity she thinks the press is giving her. Calm down, girl, and toss the master tape for this in the junker. Grade: D
