Tina Arena continues to amaze, this week leaping 23-8 on the TrackList with "I'm Gone". In a mere three weeks it has become her tenth Top 10 hit. If it keeps up at this pace, it could very well become her third No. 1. A bit further down, at No. 26, Gwen Stefani is the Top Debut with her first solo single, "What You Waiting For?", while U2's "Vertigo" settles for a No. 34 bow. At No. 50, the third and final new entry is "Just Like Me", by Holly Valance, thus far the year's biggest artist when it comes to the J-SKWD lists. In fact, her State Of Mind CD, which debuted this past February, is still holding strong at No. 2 -- in week 31. (I guess I should point out that "Just" isn't a new song, but in fact a bonus track from the Japanese edition of Mind.)

The albums list continues to remain boring, I know, with Tina Arena taking a third week at No. 1. But as people may have guessed by now, I'm more a singles person than an albums person. In fact, my music listening habits? I listen to my CDs as I would a radio station...where I choose the playlist. I load my 60 CD-changer with mostly compilation CD's of new music (and, of course, a few "real" albums) and go back and forth to different CD's to listen to (mostly) newer and recent singles. A guestimate of what I listen to the most or just plain like the most is how I compose the TrackList. ...Wow. I just got all personal on your asses!

Since I've run out of music stuff to talk about, let's move on to…TV! How's the new season so far? Well, pretty good, I'd say. Here's a brief breakdown on a few new shows: Jack & Bobby: intelligent mix of political and family drama: A-, Desperate Housewives: clever, engagingly dark and very funny: A-, Veronica Mars: fun, involving and smarter than your average teen drama-comedy-mystery: B+, Lost: dazzlingly intense, well-acted and -produced...gets more interesting each week: A, Kevin Hill: sweet and amusing, but the NYPD Blue-style camerawork is sometimes nauseating: B+, CSI: NY: more of the same, only less interesting: C+, Joey: funnier than I expected, better every week, with a great cast: B+. So, there ya have it...my opinions on some new shows. I know you didn't ask, but oh well. : P
